You don't have to be mad to work at Apple but....

Re: glad to stay away

Really? Is that true?

I ask since I worked at Apple for over 10 years from 1994 to 2004, at both the loop and stockley park and the one single thing that stood out from all the other benefits was that the money was absolutely fantastic. Just to provide an example, I went back to work last November on shutting down a legacy project in Cupertino at a daily rate of £800 plus all expenses paid, guaranteed for 6 weeks work.

Agree that some of the management were dislocated from their staff but that was just a few guys, and one now rather infamous lady. Those types were paying far too much attention to what SJ was dropping down on them from on high to really give a damn about the staff beneath them and most of them were very quickly found out and 'promoted' to somewhere that their skills would be more appropriate.

Special iPhone trousers will ease Apple into the fashion world

Ah, but 'celebrities' need a phone that your average really stupid hack (the newspaper type, not the computer one) can easily access the voicemail on, and one that they can switch off the security of, to make life easier for said hack.

At the NoTW hearing their 'expert' claimed that if the default Nokia 12345 code did not work then he did not bother. Even T-Mobile RECOMMEND setting the default security code to 12345 for Nokia handsets.

Its not the SIZE of the pocket!

Its the rigidity that counts! We need trousers ('pants' for you lot somewhere west of Ireland) with stiffened 6.23" kevlar pockets (hardened steel might be going too far) to make doubly sure that you can't start doing Uri Geller tricks with your iPhone ≥6.

Larry Ellison: Who's the DINOSAUR NOW, cloudy rivals?

Ellison vs Salesforce is, in my opinion, rather like a battle between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Nobody could care less about who wins and everyone wishes that one would kill the other off.

Re: Conflicted

Spot on. But the kids should have handed the phone to the fanboi and told him to prove that it wasn't breakable.

Very sad state ..

...when people have so much cash to waste that they spend it on destroying $600+ of technology just so that they can get noticed. If I had $600 to burn like that it would go to charity, not on idiotic pranks.

WTF?

But what now happens to that bond? If BC raised the bond using p4y as collateral and then shut down p4y, surely they should have to repay the money back to the Irish?

Re: ok, but seriously...

Actually had I seen a headline saying "Photos leaked of Rihanna with her clothes on" I might have been more shocked. As for the unfortunate Kardashian woman ... I think the phrase 'all mink coat and no knickers' serves her well.

fanboi #451
WTF?

But Kardashian's pictures don't turn up on that .. ahem .. website. Are you sure she didn't send the pictures herself to the press since she was feeling left out of the publicity?

Well, it works well for Western Europeans as well ... look at Minecraft.

Re: I'm STILL playing this!!

Me too! Still playing DK2 though which I preferred, especially the cutscenes (mistress torturing a skeleton and the giant playing tennis with a chicken) and the skeleton's laugh when 'enemy in sight'.

iPhone 6, Watch: Hate it or really hate it, Apple's now a $604.77bn biz

FAIL

But. Big but. The small print on Apple's Watch site

"Features are subject to change and may not be available in all regions or all languages. Requires iPhone 5 or later."

Apple really need to start telling FruityFone dealers about this. Most mobile companies in the UK and most VAR resellers are still retailing iPhone 4S units. That is going to be a heck of a lot of pissed off teenagers who are getting a Apple Watch and their parents' handmedown iPhone 4s for their next birthday ... not this year obviously.

I would have thought that the 'short battery life' depends upon your perspective of what you are using the Apple Manacle for. If you view it as a watch (yes, I really want to throw away my Omega Tresor for this ... or not, as it happens) then having to recharge a watch every 24 hours is going to be a pain. If you view it for what it really is, a bluetooth device designed to complement your iPhone then slinging yet another device onto the nightly recharge list is not too much of a hardship.

Either way I am not impressed, I really do not want to have an array of exhausted Apple devices lined up by my bed every night, hyped-up designer-wear notwithstanding. Perhaps Apple should have included a self-winding option - after all they seem so interested in telling us about the variable wrist action.

Re: Tradition for the win

Every single point you make is valid. They will get the money back though - just wait until the fashionistas really start telling everyone that they are so out of date because they don't have an AppleWatch (can't we call it an iWatch?).

fanboi #451

Just what your wrist has been waiting for ...

1) Take watch out of box.

2) Strap watch onto wrist

3) Remove picture of Steve Jobs from the box and arrange at suitable watching distance

4) Arrange box of tissues to be easily at hand.

5) I think you can guess what you do next

6) Your Apple Watch is now fully charged.
