Seagate intros Innov8: A USB-powered 8TB external hard drive

Re: Is it really 8TB?

I see this complaint so often I'm surprised an enterprising marketer at one of these HDD companies hasn't said something to the effect, "Hey, let's slightly increase the size of our drives so they format exactly at nTB, mark them as TRUE nTB drives and talk bad about how everyone else is cheating you. We can charge more for the drive and with the "TRUE" branding we'll sell more."

Anti-Facebook Ello: Here's why we're still in beta. SPAMGASM!

An ounce of prevention...

They need to vet their signups in some way. I gave them my email address a while back, but haven't heard anything. Yet somehow thousands of spam accounts have managed to get access? This service may want to provide an alternative to Facebook/twitter/etc, but at least until they come out of this beta state (sounds more like alpha) they could start out requiring users to validate themselves against other sites' authentication mechanisms to at least slightly increase the barrier to entry for spam accounts.

Chinese hackers spied on investigators of Flight MH370 - report

Right. It shouldn't be necessary for anyone to hack in to see what is going on with that investigation. I suppose that the means by which they gathered information would give away capabilities of assets such as satellite imagery resolution and the like. I can't help myself but to compare this to Ferguson (in US) where withholding information is the thing that fuels conspiracy. Just be open about it.
