US stocks slip as Trump pulls trigger on Canada, Mexico, China tariffs

Re: told US farmers to "have fun" with the new deal.

The US has some potash production, not sure if it's enough.

On the other hand..

The US is the 2nd or 3rd largest producer of phosphates in the world and has

one of the biggest mines in the world. Soo while not exactly the same, is still

just as necessary and gives the US a big bargaining chip.

BUT...I also don't know enough about the subject.

Cheers

Get ready: US port strike may snarl tech supply chains

Black eye for unions and workers

I’m certainly pro union and workers rights….BUT….. when you get scumbags like this voting to strike and disrupt supply chains during times of extreme need, such as when a hurricane comes through and blows away parts of multiple states, it makes you wonder.

I’m in North Carolina where there is still a massive search for bodies. Towns are gone, people are suddenly homeless and jobless, and life just sucks right now… But hey! Let’s strike and make it harder on them! Utilities and communications are still down/sketchy but that’s ok. It’s a good time to strike. We can really take advantage of their suffering to help our strike.

I bet a lot of those folks would gladly accept jobs at the docks right now if they could.

I understand that working conditions need to change...but c’mon….

I see that they are temporarily halting the strike for 90 days so I guess that’s one good thing…

Still doesn’t help the panic buying going on which makes it even more difficult for those folks who lost everything as well as drives up prices. But then again….I guess if I’m a member of their union I should just say screw the storm victims…

Sorry....rant off....

Gotta be proud of our politicians....

They just Love to give all our money and land away to foreign entities.

If your broadband bill is too high consider moving to Idaho, they get the internet for free

DrFrito

Yeppers, only 1 internet provider, as well as cell phone service.

I'm one of the lucky ones out here. I get high speed internet, 7Mbps service. Most are still on dial-up. My service is "Up to 10Mbps" which is 7 for me. Another gets the same service but only achieves 3Mbps at their home. With a discount mine is $43 per month. $34.95 for the service, and the rest tax. I own my modem. just fyi.....

Revised 'Broadband 2.0' report: 6.7m Brits suffer 'sub-10Mbps' speeds

DrFrito

Oh, those poor people not having Gigabit service....

Eastern US. My 'high speed' access is 7mbps and I pay $63 per month. I have some of the faster access in our area. Some of the tiny towns out here are still on dial-up, not sure what they pay...

btw, mine is for Up to 10Mbps....as they don't guarantee speeds.... Still much better than nothing, and I honestly don't really want to pay more.

FCC boss sketches out bargain broadband for hard-up Americans

DrFrito

Just another bad gov't idea

First,

Broadband isn't available in our area, cell service isn't even in some of our areas.

Second, why should I pay for someone's cell/internet service? I live in an area that's relatively poor. Most is by choice.

This program is great for our drug dealers as it's more free stuff as they already get free food/water/etc. I just filed taxes for somebody and they got back over $5000 because of the earned income credit. They bought a 4 wheeler, go cart, and pool with the money. A lot/not all, of the people who would qualify for this program are just sponges.

We just get by.....so why should I pay for their phone and internet service?

Gust catches Amazon's skirt, reveals glimpse of 'Netflix for books'

Might save a bundle on college texts. My kid attended one college where the books were free, BUT, I know that's weird/rare/lucky. Books for my wife's masters were just stupid expensive.
