A quick cup of coffee leaves production manager in fits and a cleaner in tears

Nigel Cro

Re: When Urban Myths Come True

Is this the SWM I know?

Alright, silly question which only the OP will be able to answer, I was there for the cleaner incident, but I am pretty sure I wasn't there for the water cascade...

When we rebuilt the office we had dedicated, red sockets put in for the cleaners - just in case.

Are you sure you are reading the right website?

I love disruptive computer jargon. It's so very William Burroughs

Thank you all...

...for brightening up my day.

Working for an American company we are forever solutioneering and acclimating. Only the other day I was asked to 'socialize the risk so we can drive corrective action'. Five minutes ago I was asked to 'circle back round and stay close to this'

DPA 1984???

I think I take the point - that the UK has had data protection legislation since 1984 (at least) but the article is slightly confusing.

The 1984 DP Act was replaced by the 1998 DP Act which is currently the relevant legislation in the UK..

Lester Haines: RIP

Nothing to add...

I can't add anything relevant or meaningful to what has been already said so eloquently by others...

Condolences to family, friends and colleagues.

Politician claims porn tabs a malware experiment, then finds God

Nigel Cro

Wouldn't get my vote...

Not because he likes porn.

Not because he has caught god.

Not because he still uses Yahell.

Not because he is a liar.

All of the above are acceptable traits in public officials (I am a realist).

But mainly because...

He is several different types of stupid!!

@CustardGannet

Phew!

Nigel Cro

Hold on a gosh darned minute...

Human beings have only been on the planet for about 4,000 years haven't they?

Never mind that, our Solar System is definitely no older than 10,000 years.

Surely this is evidence that aliens have visited the planet and left stuff for us to find?

This science stuff is easy!

Foreign Agency

So, the 'Foreign Agency' is unidentified, but he was being paid in US Dollars...

Or, am I reading too much into this and the payments have been 'normalised' to protect the guilty?

"We're relived to report"

Nice to see that even in the world of the corporate behemoth there are people who have managed to avoid the sense of humour removal operation normally scheduled for Week One.

El Reg merch tentacle mulls retro LOHAN T-shirt

Nigel Cro

Always on the look out for new T Shirts, particularly if they are humorous and/or tell a story.

But... If they are kept in the same warehouse as my Pint glass, I might just keep my money in my pocket.

(Pint glass STILL not arrived - Maybe the FAA are holding up the delivery due to the Septic's aversion to proper beer??)

Once upon a time I was explaining to a very BIG boss all about naughty people doing naughty things using the internet. He was personally affronted and felt that 'we' ought to be doing something about it.

I started to explain things like jurisdictional difficulties, he got more and more red-faced until he asked the question.

"Well, who owns the internet?"

Pint

Mug??

In view of the skilfully crafted and carefully chosen motto for the enterprise, I am surprised to see the logo appearing an a receptacle whose primary purpose is the containment of warm, non-alcoholic beverages.

Could I petition the powers that be for the inclusion of a taller, more glass-like receptacle capable of holding something in the order of 568.261485 millilitres of Tanglefoot*?

* Other Alcoholic beverages are available (but not as nice).
