Bad news: Robo-cars will make you work billions more hours. Good news: In 2040

TheSkunkMonk

Sooner or later Mr Cameron is going to have realise that Welfare is essential! It wasn't so long ago that we were proud to have a reserve workforce and do we really want to end up a nation of call centre workers and bean counters. As for the car we can barely get a desktop to run securely never mind something your going to trust with your life. Bet these things will be easy for muggers to target and pull over(or maybe just kids having fun) as well.

Re: Say what?

"ok they have fiddled a bit with something and given it a poncy new name"

This is the very reason I got out of IT I was sick and tired of keeping upto date with all the rehashed crap. It became an absolute joke and still is it was mobiles that finally pushed me over the edge, Moving features, destroying desktops, turning ports upside down and for what? sales sales sales oh and don't forget the training courses! I'm sure that used to be called "RTFM" by the way.

Needless to say my grumpy view of the current IT system did not get me very far. I was hopeless at getting clients to upgrade, because to be honest most the time no new systems or hardware is required and I will always be a firm hater of virtual desktops and thinclients. A Lazy mans tools they are but ISO standards love em.

There was a reason why mainframes were ditched for standalone systems, and a reason why personal images werent put on the net be it secure server or not. Just going to keep happening until people take care of there own backups and dump this silly thing we call the cloud.

Re: Expansion Packs

Battlefield was built by the players, it was map making and mods that made it truly great and used to be common place in all multilayer games at one point. Now you need to spend weeks just to get a decent gun, and if you want to play more than a couple maps? you better get out your wallet. I just looked at the price of elder scrolls online, then the subscription and then the magic horse. Was time to walk away.

Yet another reason to skip commercials: Microsoft ad TURNS ON your Xbox One

TheSkunkMonk

Wait a minute, if you pay for an xbox one does it force adverts on you as well as spy?

Psst. We've got 400Gb/s Ethernet working - but don't tell anyone

I went from downloading images in 10-15mins to downloading high def video in less than one, sadly this has done little for making the world a better place. It's the same old story with large IT companies though always holding back hardware instead of producing the best they can, and the practices they have on the stuff they do release in the name of profit is absurd as well. http://hackaday.com/2013/03/18/hack-removes-firmware-crippling-from-nvidia-graphics-card/
