AC/DC
How about DC datacenters? When power is provided to datacenters, it comes off the grid as AC. Then it is converted to DC to charge the UPS. Then it is converted back to AC to send through the power cable to the servers/switches. Then it is converted to DC again by the server's power supply (more fans) to charge the circuit boards. All this is a huge waste of power, heat and money. Most servers/switches accept DC power. Everything in the datacenter should be DC. Phone companies have been doing that for years with their equipment. It's much more efficient.
