Citrix adds remote Mac support, but some customers are grumpy

dcolpitts

As a reseller who's been a Citrix partner for over 20 years in Canada, I'd also like to add that the level of support from the sales teams is absolutely horrible. And the fact that they revoked the ability for distribution to create quotes has been a nightmare. What used to be a 60 minute turn around in asking distribution for a quote for new product or renewals has turned into days and weeks of trying to even get Citrix to acknowledge the request, let alone reply to it. And when they reply, it's just to pass the buck to someone else to handle. And in the last 6 months, they haven't gotten a single quote right on the first try. On Monday a client asked me to increase their subscription license count. I sent the request with all the details to the distributor and asked them to coterm the existing subscription (which expires in March 2025) and the new subscription to match (would means it would all expire in March of 2026). Yesterday after noon we finally get the response - they set the new subscription to only start in March 2025... Idiots...

Confirmed: Broadcom, VMware agree to $61b merger

I swore I would never, ever, do this, but I've already started to inquire what we need to do to become Nutanix authorized. I've already been through the Brocade slaughter, and the Symantec cluster flock and never again. I'm really hoping that some agency somewhere will prevent this from going through.

WTF is cloud-tethered compute? We're not sure either, but it just made a hype cycle for the first time

Cloud-tethered Compute - see HPE Greenlake offerings

We already have Cloud-tether Compute today. And it's called HPE Greenlake. The design, architecture, and installation of your entire on-prem compute infrastructure (aka Private Cloud) is managed by HPE, and you can also offload much of your day-to-day infrastructure management with optional support services from HPE.

I swear the world would be better off without the likes of Gartner and their buzzword bingo.

A few reasons why cops didn't immediately shoot down London Gatwick airport drone menace

Fly a Herc over them and drop a heavy net

Fly a C130 Hercules over them and drop a net on them off the back ramp. Even if the operator deliberately flies into the Herc, it's most likely not going to take down the Herc (it may destroy a prop / engine though), and even then the problem is solved because the drone will be destroyed when it hits the Herc.

IBM memo to staff: Our CEO Ginni is visiting so please 'act normally!'

HPE's CEO Antonio Neri doesn't appear to issues like this...

Really? If that is the case, last week at HPE Discover, I think we violated a whole bunch of IBM CEO interaction rules when Antonio Neri was around. Good thing he has no rules about taking selfies with partners, staff, and even cardboard cutouts of he staff that couldn't be in attendance...

You'd think a CEO would want to hear from their staff to determine just how well things are going, instead of be insulated from them by a bunch of kissasses and brownnosers. No wonder IBM people are so miserable...

We use ManageEngine's Support Center Plus - it does pretty much everything you are asking for. It is licensed by the number of help desk accounts you create.
