Busted Windows 8, 10 update blamed for breaking Brits' DHCP

I'm normally a Linux user, but been using Windows 10 since release. Updated last night and had no problem with connection, and thats on virgin media. As a matter of fact I haven't had one problem with windows 10 since I've been using it (about July 2015) even with everything I've read about.

As an amateur programmer, even I know not to seed random with time, null, or the other countless ways I've seen people do it. Normally I get entropy from /dev/random to seed srand or rand_add.

I use MATE on Debian, probably for the similarity with GNOME 2. I did try xfce a couple of times, however it missed some basic functions for myself to use daily.

investment

"we invest nearly $10bn every year in R&D to make sure we keep evolving the platform"

Wow 10bn for R&D, I could copy&paste for them for less than that!

I think microsoft need to cut their losses with everything they have done in the last ten years or so, go back to the roots of xp, and expand/continue their customers most loved microsoft product to date, as they have been asking.

"What I do know is that we are listening to our customers and partners and innovating"

Obviously they dont, or they wouldn't be where they are now. Nor would they have produced the failures of vista/windows8 or wp!
