Brighton perv cops community service for 'hacking' women's Facebook accounts

Teslahed

I have no problems with blackmailers who use sexually explicit material they've hacked from other people's facebook accounts going on the sex offenders register.

If you are using material like this to publicly embarrass people; it's just another form of revenge porn. Again, stick people like that on the register.

Ultimately a person's motives can never be proven, only guessed at, but their actions have the same effect regardless.

I can't actually think of a single reason why someone might do something like this that I wouldn't then be happy placing them on the sex offenders register because of. Alleged motives count for less than the actual nature of the crime itself. Which in this case is sexual.

He deliberately hacked accounts to get his hands on naked pictures of women that they would not have consented to giving him.

It's a sex crime similar to how taking up skirt pictures of a women without her permission or rigging up a two way mirror in a bathroom with a camera would be.

I'm actually slightly worried that anyone would try and suggest it's not a sex crime. But then people do do this sort of thing.

Please note; Bernoulli's Principle is not how aircraft produce large amounts of lift. It's mostly angle of attack and Newton's third law blasting air downwards off the wing to send the aircraft upwards in an equal and opposite direction. Otherwise planes couldn't fly upside down. Everyone gets taught in school that planes fly because of Bernoulli but that effect just adds a little efficiency to the cruise more than anything else. You can fly a plane with a completely flat wing if you get the angle of incidence right. The guy writing your aviation / space based articles should really know this stuff.

Re: Idiots

An interesting question this raises regarding the time taken to descend from altitude is the time and energy required to climb that high. It's going to take at least a couple of minutes to get that high. At 900 meters altitude (3000 feet approx) you'll be near the limits of most radio control systems even assuming you are stood relatively nearby almost directly beneath. Once at altitude and after allowing for 2 mins climb and 8 mins descent time you will have very little flying time in which to do much flying around.

I have to wonder if this was a 'flyaway' and whether or not the pilot successfully recovered his drone afterwards.

So yes, this did just get shared on social media for the sake of the headline.

In other news; 3cm flying robots would be pretty tricky to get doing much useful. Off the shelf flying drones that can carry useful payloads are currently down to about 8.5 cm's tip to tip and that could be reduced a bit with folding propellers. Give it 5 to 10 years and that will change. Doing it today I'd go with a snakelike robot tethered to the outside word for remote power and control and keep it simple if it was me. Even though I do love mini flying drones.

I found it pretty entertaining but i had drunk a rather large amount of wine first. It's probably not a movie to watch when you are fully engaged and thinking clearly. It was definitely the acting from the main characters (kids) that made the movie so watchable.

Re: Better cheap HD cameras available

I can find the bare camera for £45 by looking around online (ok my estimate was a little bit low) and you can 3D print your own case with a little effort if you don't want to spend another £22.50 on one of those. If you are going to send something all the way up into space I think it's worth spending a few quid more to get full HD video.

I mention the mobius because it's the most popular cheap camera for recording HD video from RC aircraft at the moment so it has a lot of 3rd party support within the community. Also the form factor looks better to me. You could probably mount it inside the main box with a small hole for the lens sticking out.

Another bonus - it runs hot and has a heatsink which you could modify or remove.

Better cheap HD cameras available

There are much better cameras available for about £40 that will record in full HD which are smaller and weigh less. Have a look at the Mobius Action Camera. It comes in standard and wide angle lense formats and records at 1080p. There are transparent cases available as well.

Vectored thrust

Just one minor point; you vector thrust downwards if you want to go upwards (equal and opposite reaction and all that) but you may tilt your motors upwards to achieve this if your propellers are in tractor configuration rather than pusher.
