... people have to complain to trigger this sort of response? If there are thousands of complaints, then OK. Maybe even hundreds, but if it's a few tens or less why should a tiny minority's views prevail over a large (but silent) majority?

Yes, both the Grauniad's and BBC's new "tabletised" web pages are a significant dumbing down of their previous offerings. Less content, focus on trivial pap, greatly reduced analysis and a reduction in the opportunities for comment.

Quite right. Insisting on making everything yourself is, at least, a bit odd but there is a lot of pleasure to be gained from home cooking, a spot of DIY etc., etc.
I don't think Greens (or hippies) are averse to markets either. There are thriving craft/farmers'/small producers' markets in my neck of the woods where even the "Swampiest" of participants is happy to (say) sell homemade soap for money which is then used to buy toothpaste made by someone else.
But here's the rub. The markets described above are emphatically not small-scale versions of the all-powerful "markets" that dominate our lives. The latter are very, very different, and not in a good way.
The Greens have interesting things to say on these matters, taking in fiat currency issues along the way. And that's a lot more interesting than homemade toothpaste.
A nice looking and sounding car. Things like this are a credit to Tata's policy of allowing good engineers to create good cars and giving them the resources to do it.
What a contrast to the company's previous owners who tried to cut costs at every turn.
If only we could magic away all those f****** accountants and replace them with engineers.
In my experience grizzlies pose a threat in being able to spot "vapourware" type developments. In all sectors, not just IT. You'll know the kind of thing - flashy presentation, investor opportunity, float, bail and run (with the money) leaving the suckers with an underdeveloped "thing".
Far, far too many around.
