I get the gift card at a discounted price. Circa £44 I think gets a £50 card. So it's better than cash, saves me money.
But I agree on the not being able to spend them.

I don’t have a landline, so if I need to make an emergency call during a long power outage, I guess I’ll have to email them.
(bit like the IT Crowd?)
Hoping email will be fine:
* FTTP - exchange hopefully has power (generator if need be)
* Openreach modem has a battery backup
* UPS for the router (and the modem)
* Home battery system has an emergency socket next to it - so if the UPS is drained, I can power the router from that instead.
Fingers crossed ehh!
It is complicated!
The council owned the land, the developers built the road/pavement.
There's a guarantee between the developers and council I think for two years.
VM could install their services IF they did a full width pavement re-instatement, but thatis too expensive for their in-fill budgets.
2 Mbps on a new build estate here.
Or 40 Mbps from Vodafone 4G.
Trouble is, 4G is just too expensive for large amounts of data - e.g. Netflix, Now TV etc. Therefore I still have my BT broadband and the landline phone I hardly ever use.
Almost got Virgin Media installed down the road (it is on both the main roads) but the council refused as they didn't want their neat and tidy pavements dug up.
A one hour outage aint bad. With VM it'd probably be half a day!
As long as the comms are good and they seem to be acting quick to resolve (eg have competent engineers) then what more can you want?
If you want a 100% reliable service, either pay a fortune or have an ADSL line, a cable line and a mobile service plumbed into a fancy router (or two)!
