Re: black_matte_iphones_losing_paint

The Register's circle jerk of Apple bashing journos squeals with adolescent delight again!

"Idiot tax" -> sure bubba, but an Android S7, or the eye-roller of the Google Phone that's just a sorry LG parts bin concoction, are even more expensive. And they're 5x slower on JS.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but apple has been taking *a lot* of stick from across the tech commentariat in recent months. You're no longer the hubristic little rebel voice against the sea of Apple yes-men. Move on.

Disclosure: S7 owner.

It actually will be Obama who decides whether to end US government oversight of the internet

How is Ted Cruz not a serious politician?

a) no matter how much you might disagree with his conservative views, nobody seriously argues that Ted Cruz is not a deadly serious politician.

b) On this issue, whether you agree with it or not, you have to admit that it deserves debate, and frankly, this was flying well under the radar outside of techieland until Cruz got involved.

Deep inside Nantero's non-volatile carbon nanotube RAM tech

Ah yes. This is the technology of the future, and always will be. I've been waiting for nano-memory tech for, let's face it, 2 decades. It's always 3 years away. Not holding my breath. Good ol' CMOS. It's always there for you. Right now.

Tim Cook's answer to crashing iPhone sales: More iPhones

Re: Turning point?

oh fuh god's sake.... this site is so full of apple takedown zealots like you wishing against the odds for a crash. It's going to slow - sure. the iPhone is no longer an every-year-upgrade must-have. But there still a ton of things going for it *not least is privacy*. I have the latest and greatest Android Galaxy s7 edge and I'm constantly accosted by the Google desire to watch my every move on the damn thing. Tell you what, AAPL still has the fastest chip, pretty damn good OS, and crucially, gets the hell out of my private life. I'll spend 500 quid every 2 years no problemo for that.

Question: What's missing in Microsoft's data science professional degree?

Re: ACID

Could not agree more. The author clearly has no clue about the workflows and challenges of analysing big data. He betrays his cluelessness with the "surely" qualifier when moaning about the fact that there's no Relational DB theory in the course. Relational databases were supplanted in this domain *precisely because* they're useless at big data. Nobody cares about the client/salesperson/sales order/HR table referential integrity that RDMS obsess about.

REVEALED: How YOU PAY extra for iPHONES - even if you DON'T HAVE ONE

nicercat

Oh please. These phones will just take longer to sell. Assuming 4% funding cost for the operator, and 3 months delay in selling these 4Cs, that'll be 1.33% of the cost price of each phone passed on to other customers. That's negligable. Stop trying to court controversy where there is none.
