Quite a few might jump on me for saying that I have grown to love the Unity Interface. It offers something different from that of Windows and (I hear) from Mac. Some of the HUD functionalities were subtly copied in Windows 10. I only wish that Unity7 continues in some avatar.

Farewell Unity, you challenged desktop Linux. Oh well, here's Ubuntu 17.04

Oracle exec quits over co-CEO Safra Catz's promise to assist Trump
I have a somewhat tangential view on this. Why the Americans, who are supposed to be true-blood democrats, unable to accept their own Election Verdict? Like it or not, they all now need to rally behind their President-elect, whatever maybe their personal dislike towards Trump. These anti-Trump Americans still unable to reconcile with the Election Verdict are sending out a very bad message to other democracies.
I also see lot of parallels between Trump's Win and Mod's win here in India. Here too, many are yet to reconcile with his victory but as someone affirming faith in democracy, atleast I shall extend to my support to my PM
Workforce DECIMATION: QLogic fires up its pink slip printer
I believe, it's high time that the world really starts introspecting about firing people for reducing costs / increasing profits. I also believe that the best Corporate Social Responsibility these Corporates could demonstrate is by job creation. I know there are enough arguments against my views here but the present Hire-n-Fire Culture that is well entrenched in the Free Market Economies only sees humans as Cost and not as human beings
Google Maps community competition falls foul of Indian regulations
This is not the first time Google is guilty of this crime. Years ago, the then President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam also raised concern of seeing our Nuclear Installations on Google Map. 26/11 Mumbai attacks were largely aided by Google Maps - especially the attack on Jewish House. This repeat callousness only reaffirms the typical American mindset of "we-don't-care-about-others".
Seven Great Moments in World Wide Web History
I want to play with VMs
Hi,
If you just want to get a feel of Virtualization:
(My current) Hardware: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz, DDR2 800Mhz, 250Gb SATA (7200rpm) HDD.
(My current) Software: Ubuntu Linux 12.04 x64, Virtual Box 4.3.2
(My current) Guest OS-es: Lubuntu x32 13.10, Ubuntu 13.10 x32, WordPress Appliance from http://www.turnkeylinux.org
Ofcourse, the latest H/w like Core i7 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM can only be better.
The best part is, if you add an Internal Host-only Adapter (in addition to the default NAT one) you could communicate with the guest OS as if it is a regular wkstn / server. In my case, I could access the WordPress page by using the internal IP of the guest as the hostname in the URL.
I have been playing with VBox for the past 5 years and my H/w is still not outdated for me ;-)
Watch out, MARTIANS: 1.3 tonne INDIAN ROBOT is on its way
Re: Just curious ...
Yes, the China Factor is definitely there but the prime motivation, in my opinion, is to build a credible, commercial and highly competitive (in terms of cost) Space Program to compete directly with NASA and European Space Agency. In that sense, our Space Program is also a credible Business Investment.
To those who have posted sarcastic / mocking comments,
Yes, India has a lot of pressing problems that has even compelled quite a few Indians to question the need for the Space Program. As an Indian I can also ask similar questions about very many expenses the USA and the Europe are making when they too have, in my humble opinion, more pressing human problems. I can only say that an investment in Science & Technology is only good and it has to be done for the greater good. Addressing other human issues should not be posed as a pre-condition for such an investment. To end with similar counter-questions, why did the USA send Man to the Moon when it was facing many other pressing issues - like the Cold War, risk of a WW3 (Nuclear Holocaust), etc? Why is it still investing in Space Programs (Mars Mission especially) despite its colossal (and almost unpayable) debt to the rest of the World?
