Re: Firewall beater
Unfortunately, those authoritarian regimes that don't have the capability to shoot down satellites usually do have the capability to shoot down the owners of Pringles cans.

Notification Area Icons under Control Panel can be used to hide away the icon. I've tucked it away for now and will probably look to see how well received the upgrade is after it has been given a good going over, sometime around November should be adequate. Then I either activate it or delete it, for now it is a bit like a discount coupon for something I haven't yet decided to purchase, so I've done the digital equivalent of shoving it away in a drawer.
I really don't see many families reducing their cars and apart from the non-driver take-up there will also be a number of single people getting a second car for use while the first is charging (unless instant charging/swappable batteries become ubiquitous).
I assume the reason for the linkage between the flight management systems and the entertainment kit is for the purpose of information display. The bit where the film finishes and there's still an hour to go where they show slides of position on a moving map, airspeed, outside temperature, altitude, ETA, etc.
The last couple of flights I was on were showing the route. Unless someone is going to go to the trouble of loading all this information into a separate system, a link is required. The stupid part is allowing control commands through the link (especially the fly sideways instruction!).
Not only do you have a statistical chance of doing better, you'd have to underperform by the amount of the management fee to come out worse off. Find me a fund manager that charges fees only if they do better than the index and only then will I consider letting them gamble with a bit of my hard-earned.
I was always under the impression that the whole point of shareware was that it was distributed free of charge. It was up to the author to include (within the software or as a separate file) a request for payment if you liked the software and intended to use it beyond some reasonable trial period.
In most cases, I'm quite happy to allow sites with their own adverts and analytics. It is passing these on to third parties with all their tracking and snooping that is my main objection.
In many cases, these would be special interest sites with relevant advertising and I may be visiting the site specifically to see the ads.
