God bless this mess: Study says UK's Christian beliefs had 'important' role in Brexit

Re: Religion in the UK?

James, you're spot-on that lots of Little Englanders self-identify as notionally Anglican.

At the same time, cos my girlfriend is a Vicar, I know very large numbers of hard-core believing active churchgoing Anglicans, and it happens that those I know the views of are all REJOINERS.

Cooperation being (generally) more humane than Conflict - or Conservatism.

I really do NOT want to be Ruled by foreigners, but I do want to Play Fair with them.

(Please don't tar me with the Henry8 brush.)

Has anyone asked to rename Trump?

Its a long thread and I may have missed it?

Re: Eh?

Actually my Genetics professor used to say "There are fifteen Genetic sexes, yet we only have words in English for three of them." Which he backed-up with high quality medical photographs and some heart-rending case studies.

Disk drive fired 'Frisbees of death' across data centre after storage admin crossed his wires

Only 50Mb? All mine, bought in 1980, were 700Mb - about the same as a Data CD would be a few years later.

On top of a 2 horsepower spin-dryer.

I'm astonished at 'shards' - what on earth were the shattered platters made from? I'm remembering thick aluminium plate!

My staff did did a nice line in Gift Clocks.

Whenever a head-crash rendered a disc-pack useless, we'd dismantle it and fit each artistically-scarred brown disc with a cheap quartz movement. Wish I'd kept one :-(

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Groups io

Written by the guy who started what became Yahoo Groups.

Most of the facilities Yahoo Groups users like.

Only downside is cost of storage, but if you don't need much there's no problem with FREE.

Google Groups used to be Amazing, but they downgraded it seriously shortly after Marissa left G for Y

Re: Alternative to egroups?

Facebook is doing it's little best for us.

Facebook GROUPS are hugely better than ordinary nasty Facebook.

But having everything readable in your Inbox beats websites every time.

And every Group has a website to go to if that's your bag.

Consider the possibility, Guys, that Oath is merely moving all the data to their own Servers (good) before it has the infrastructure in place to tell us what's happening (not so good).

Ghastly! Yahoo! Groups! gripes! grip! grumpy! gremlin! grumblers!

Repository of Wisdom

Yahoo! Groups can be fixed.

It's one of the greatest repositories of wisdom in history.

It has an unpaid army of millions generating Content drawing people to Yahoo!

Yahoo! isn't wrong to give it a new interface - it probably needs a new data structure as well - because the source code has long been lost and the product was fraying round the edges.

The Disaster Movie came from releasing untested code on live users.

Does Yahoo! have the will to fix it though?

I really hope so!
