Google stock buy-back: You'll groan when you realize where that $5,099,019,513.59 figure came from

Stock is way up after results.

Uhh, the market was closed when the results came out.

The stock was up over ten percent in after market trading!!

It's the models

Personally, I don't doubt that the models clearly indicate that AGW is a scientifically modeled fact.

I also fully expect that, in the decades to come, these models will be proven incorrect.

There are great benefits to mankind through the R&D of AGW "reducing" technologies. We should endeavor that route further, without an excess of brimstone and economic self flagellation, until the models have withstood the test of time.

As MS Office starts to mature in its online form . . . are we not witnessing the slow, but inevitable, disintegration of the Windows hegemony?

Re: Tab-casting versus handover

Yes. Netflix and Plex etc all hand off the transmission from your phone or PC to the dongle.

Netflix is superb through it; it means you can use your phone to browse and pop it up on the TV when you find something to watch; Plex similar.

The Chromecast is *superb*, I couldn't be more positive about it. Really neat way to make a TV accessible to your content.

Re: Not going anywhere

"Until someone creates the folding-screen smartphone or a *true* smartphone/desktop hybrid, that can run true desktop apps when docked with full business or creative functionality"

--- I think this is where Apple are moving next; the hint is in the 64bit development *and* giving away the productivity Apps for free. Shouldn't be too long before you can wirelessly drive a large monitor directly from your phone and, with the appropriate peripherals, et voila: true mobility.
