Let's see Amazon had patches for Meltdown/Spectre deployed a month prior to the advisory was released.
My Amazon virtual machines have had several processor upgrades in the past few years. You don't buy a new server every year to run your software. This last vulnerability make almost all servers obsolete! Good luck clearing that SOC SSAE-16 on your old server gear. Cloud Services make disaster recovery affordable to the smallest shops. The way Microsoft is pricing their software you won't be able to afford on-prem solutions. Meltdown/Spectre and Harvey/Irma are wakeup calls to get off of on-prem solutions.
On premises is dead long live SaaS brokered services via SAML 2.0!
Nexus line does not have a microSD slot either. Why? Because of security. If the device is used in the enterprise with proper mobile device managment policies enforced there is a certain degree of certainty that said device can be locked if not completely wiped when it beacons home. If an individual kept privy information haphazardly on a microSD card there is no way to ensure the safety of the data stored on it.
Frank Bough is right the 1st gen Nexus 7 is garbage with non gorilla glass screen, tin sounding speakers, horrid battery life. Oh yeah and profiles is garbage too. If you have 2 profiles and each has the same app guess what that same app takes twice the space. Garbage garbage garbage.
With that being said if the new Nexus 7 rights those wrongs for the price it is a grand bargain.
