Sept.11 Intelligence failure?

The whole world knows, and the (real) free world dares to voice it: Sept. 11 was a false flag operation to make invading Afghanistan more psychologically bearable for the US population. News sites shouldn't help perpetuate the fairy tale of terrorist attacks, especially this website, which is supposed to look at things from a technical/scientific angle.

Iron Mike Pence blasts Google for its censor-happy Dragonfly Chinese search engine

nice spam database '); drop table users; --

If you haven't noticed yet, Google is already censored for westerners, just in another way. But most people are happy with that, because it aligns with their current values (anti-communist, anti-socialist, anti-muslim). We could say westerners are more heavily indoctrinated than Chinese, or indoctrinated in a different way, so they tend to self-censor and censor by group-pressure. To this we should add that in the west, the internet doesn't have the same weight for influencing as television does, so there is where most of the efforts are put. There is no lack of studies that confirm the censorship and bias in our media: from anti-minorities tendencies to the outright suppression of certain political ideas.

It's just a formality

Talk about freedom and democracy and whatnot, but we have detention centres like Guantanamo, we have the Patriot Act, FISA, etc, extended for as long as they want. All this in the face of the whole world, "what is known to the public" which is obviously the tip of the iceberg.

No wonder NK and China have their own internet isolated from all this madness. For any real country (as opposed to vassal/puppet states) handing their data to google/fb and company is cyber-suicide.

Re: The Norks did WannaCry? Russia did the Shadow Brokers?

This site is infested with this kind of rubbish. NK struggles with basic agricultural problems but somehow managed to do a steal NSA's backdoors and engineer the wannacry attack... This is a false flag operation that, thankfully, nobody took too seriously.

nice spam database '); drop table users; --

Very convenient

So a nation that is know for its isolation and lack of advanced technology or even basic technology suddenly steals an NSA backdoor and uses it to launch wannacry attack? We're talking about a place where the few TV's they have are still CRT, where people are struggling with basic agricultural issues. Who donesn't see this is a false flag attempt gone puff? It's ridiculous now. But we are talking about the empire trying to start a nuclear war with NK so it's not funny-ridiculous. Please stop spreading this kind of rubbish. We all know you need to sell page prints but you ought to have some degree of dignity.

US policies, they just follow the capitalist kill cost and maximize $$$ without further thought about the environment or the workers/society/country future. This is the result. Now that capitalist#1 business man is leading the country, more so. The country doesn't stand a chance to beat China or any other socialist country, because as a country that means the power is in the hands of the state, as opposed to in the hands of businesses, cheating and suing each other and the worker class to squeeze every possible penny.

Artists Imagination vs. one's own

So they give a rather fake/childish image of science but when people get closer to it and see the real thing they are scared and run away of its complexity.

People tend to think of science as mad scientist's stuff, and it's not. Science is everywhere, all around us.

Not only children, but the "masses" should be presented with realistic representations of science. That way people would get familiar with it, and they would get a real chance of understanding what is really going on. What about presenting both an informative chart, and a decorative illustration?

Re: missing the point

China is nowadays being as capitalist as any other country around.

It's naive to think the US or the UK don't control their companies/population. Maybe they keep us dumb with the two parties movie and Fox news, but definitely there isn't any more "freedom" left.

Politicians aside. Nobody has been able to throw some tech data about how "unsafe" their products are. When you are working with chips, be it Motorola, Intel, or whatnot, you are working with a black box unless you have the full documentation/specification set available.

Finally, if you were a big company manager, chances are you'd do your industrial spying by bribing insiders, hell cheaper.
