Shouldn't that be classical mechanical typewriter sound?

Perhaps it's only with Win 10 Pro but I think you can run any x86 programs you want. There is a video on Youtube from Microsoft showing Photoshop running on a Snapdragon box.

Another galaxy?

Not sure where you got the idea that it's from another galaxy...?

AFAIK it's from somewhere else within our galaxy, somewhere in the direction of Lyra apparently.

Pressing shutter button != taking photo ?

I'm pretty sure on larger professional studio photography shoots it is very often one of the photographers assistants that will actually press the button. That doesn't mean the photographer doesn't get credit for the image as they are the ones who have designed the lighting, framing, perhaps set or costumes, and directed the actions of any warm props involved. I suppose in that example they probably wouldn't own the copyright either as the client would probably own it - and the client definitely didn't press the shutter button.

Lost in translation?

To be fair to El Reg it's a quote and the source is wrong.

Also I agree on the 400km periapsis, I was surprised to read that it's so low but the JAXA article doesn't mention raising it so I guess it's intentional...?

"The first images aren't the best we're going to see by far, since the spacecraft is so far away from the target, and it won't be until April that they will be operating at the proper altitude"

While they will be lowering their apoapsis over the coming months the periapsis is already 400km, so once every 13 days 14 hours they're already getting about as close as they plan to. According to the JAXA site the two images posted in this article were taken from an altitude of 72000kms.

Re: Move along

"I'm not interested in multiplayer-only games. I don't have enough time to get good at them and frankly, being bawled out by foul-mouthed 13 year old for not pwning sufficient face is not a pleasant use of my time."

This is exactly what I though when I heard it was going to be multiplayer only. However IMO, many of the negative points brought up in this review regarding simplicity and lack of depth ended up being a plus for a non-hardcore FPS player like me as I'm not really interested in, or have time for, the RPG side of things in an FPS shooter.

Perhaps it's that the really hardcore players are staying away, or perhaps it's that all the players/characters are pretty balanced regardless of level (as there's nowhere to level up to!) but I'm finding it really enjoyable, accessible, and fun!

Also a m̶a̶j̶o̶r̶ ̶l̶i̶m̶i̶t̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ pleasant surprise is that there's no voice chat (at least on PS4) so no PFYs screaming at me.

Of course, like everything in this world it's far from perfect, but, ignoring it's shortcomings, the game really makes you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe :-)

Re: ISS anyone?

PCsat is in a polar orbit, the ISS is in a completely different orbit. Without doing any maths, I would guess that an observer on the ground underneath PCsat's groundtrack would have a much longer window of communication than a 'naut on the station.

Re: Google and GST

I just checked a few recent receipts from Play Store purchases - music, movie rental, Android games - and they all say "Includes GST of A$0.00"

Perhaps when they say "All prices include GST" they mean they are paying the GST which they are legally required to pay... which is nothing...

Re: Legal?

Great, I'm glad to hear you'll be able to get an exemption, perhaps this experience with CASA will be an early step in other RC clubs being able to hold FPV events (legally).

Thanks for taking the time to respond and best of luck with the project.

hughca

Legal?

It's my understanding that anyone operating an RPA or Model Aircraft in Oz is required to be looking at it during it's entire flight?

This is the main reason RC FPV flying is illegal here, which is unfortunate as it looks awesome!

Perhaps they'll just ignore CASA, like most people operating RPA/Model Aircraft, or perhaps they'll launch and land from somewhere else? Or perhaps there's an exemption that I don't know about (wouldn't be surprised).
