Thought you'd opted out of online tracking? Think again

... and then we add the chillie jam...

For fun, check out jamieoliver.com - in the cookie management pop-up, if you click to expand the vendor list... The sheer horror of it. Your site with 50 trackers - almost doesn't count.

On my phone, in vertical orientation, my scroll bar is about 3 pixels tall. It is near infinite.

Has Trickbot gang hijacked your router? This scanner may have an answer

Re: Visiting the MikroTik website..

Dunno if it makes sense to still be replying to this thread, but just for fun:

These routers are basically a blank slate - you get a processor, and an OS (Router OS) which allows you to do fancy networking stuff. How you configure it is up to you.

This is not a consumer device. This is not a Netgear router.

If you install a Raspberry pi with Raspian, and slap apache on there - does that make it a hardened internet-ready web server? Hell no - its not, and you better know how to lock that thing down if you don't want to trashed.

Same here.

For what its worth, I do think the paperwork that comes with the Mikrotik routers and switches suggests you to update the OS...

Your thinking is correct - but for devices aimed at your everyday computer user who might only barely be able to operate smart phone.

These devices are not aimed at that audience.

Re: Visiting the MikroTik website..

What I love about it - there is no cloud-crap to manage the router. Your house - your hardware. Simple!

Re: Visiting the MikroTik website..

Saw this by accident-

I got a "Tik" router. Just checked - mine's ok, and firmware is up to date (enough).

It is amazing hardware!

I think the advanced capability, and relative low cost makes this an easy choice for anyone with networking needs beyond what most ISP routers provide.

It is however definitely not a consumer product... You need to be skilled to configure this thing. Especially the firewall. I guess this is why this issue exists - people don't know how to lock it down right...

MikroTik is pretty good at disclosing and patching vulnerabilities, and they have an amazing forum and community.

That MS post is only 2 days old at this point...

Is this really a vulnerability?

Using the default password? - user messed up...

Firmware really old? - user messed up... Thats already been patched long ago.

Bruteforce attack? - you didn't lock down admin access to internal network only? - user messed up.

Yeah... doesn't look like a new vulnerability...

Not sure what you want them to post on their website about... "Warning: don't use this product if dumb or under the influence" :P

Alibaba pulls dust covers off its new London cloud presence

Actually, been studying up on Alibaba cloud recently. They have pretty comprehensive documentation, and training videos. Certifications as well.

Some are free and the rest are pretty cheap.

Seems Alibaba has made it a point to copy AWS as closely as possible to make it easy to transfer skills across. Even the acronyms and instance sizes are similarly named (EC2->ECS, ELB->SLB, etc).

Give it a spin!

Thumb Down

Its not just the firmware...

The driver package can (and sometimes does) also prevent you from using non-HP branch ink.

I have an HP MFP, with non-standard ink.

Worked fine in Windows 7 with their ancient HP driver package.

Upgraded to Windows 10, and pulled the HP app from the windows store.

The App STOPS you from printing, cause of non-HP ink!

Tried to uninstall the app - HA! you can't!

Tried to delete the app where it is installed on HDD - HA! not even administrator can reach that director (not without some reg hack to allow ownership...)

Managed to get rid of the app after some research, and installed the ancient Windows 7 driver package... works fine.

Go HP!

Thumb Up

Robots that dissect mosquitoes, to extract their saliva glands?! Wow! that sounds really REALLY difficult!

I'm no scientist, but what about this -

* research some sugary goop which could be a growth medium and looks like saliva

* put goop in bucket

* seed goop with saliva from one parasite carrying mosquito

* stir vigorously for 2 minutes over low heat

* microwave on high for 1 minute ("irradiate")

* fill syringe

* profit!

Come on - we don't "grow" penicillin on cheese these days... must be some better way of getting those parasites to multiply in numbers...
