iPhone may sidestep rubbish caller ID suit

@Chris Gibson

No problems whatsoever with CID here either, and that includes international numbers as well. Sounds like an idiot who can't use their phone.

Funny thing is that with my old Nokia N80, it would regularly fail to match CID if I had more than one number for each contact. This resulted in having stupid entries like Fred Mobile, and Fred Home. The iPhone also displays who a number belongs to if you dial the number directly regardless of whether you dial the number as it is stored, or prefix it with 0044/+44 (in fact I just tried it with my home number and missed out the area code and it still found it), great for when you don't recognise a number on your bill. With the Nokia I had to actually call the number and hit end just before it connected before the phone would display the owner.

Apple iPhone storms world smartphone biz

@Julian Cox

Since when did the definition of smartphone EVER have to include "running an 'open' platform"?

......or was the word 'open' in parenthesis because Nokia don't fall into this category either.

Lets quote wiki.. "A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities beyond a typical mobile phone, often with PC-like functionality. There is no industry standard definition of a smartphone. For some, a smartphone is a phone that runs complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers. For others, a smartphone is simply a phone with advanced features."

Yep, iPhone fits the first two, and the third (nothing there about it being open)........ aaannd the fourth.

I'm sick of fannys like this constantly knocking the iPhone. Get a life and get some sex with a real woman. You won't be so bothered about the iPhone once you've been laid.

Whiteboards could damage kids and teachers' eyesight

Das

I'm so offended

You can't call it a whiteboard any more than you can call a chalk board a blackboard. Until we have photon based lifeforms in our society can we please call these devices lightboards.

This whole thread has been so upsetting for me I'm going to have to sit in a dark corner, sans flip-flops, and console myself with some fair-trade organic tea.
