NASA is pretty pleased with its pulsar-sniffing intergalactic GPS tech

Re: Very impressive.

Very impressive indeed. However, my understanding is that we see pulsars because we happen to lie within the path of radiation that is emitted as it rotates, ie, they don't radiate in all directions.

I therefore wonder how far we would need to travel before we are no longer aligned with a particular pulsar's beam and it effectively goes 'out'? The solar system is probably covered, but i would guess that 10's of light years wouldn't be.

Chances are we would begin to see different, new pulsars as we move further out, but wouldn't we need to know their position with some degree of accuracy before they could become a new reference point?

Re: Netflix recommendations engine

You know you can set up profiles within Netflix now? Assign one to each family member so the recommendations are tailored to what each individual actually watches. I also got fed up of the stuff my kids watched polluting my suggestions :)

Millions of people forget to cancel Apple Music subscription

Satisfied Customer

As a pure Apple household (the last Windows laptop was replaced over a year ago - oh how I laugh at this Windows 10 lark) I find Apple Music to be a real money saver with a Family account. Whereas before we would each buy our own music every month - an album here, a few single tracks there - it would soon add up to far more than the Apple Music subscription cost.

Now we can get all the music we would ever need and more besides. We all have the freedom to explore new music, revisit our favourite bands and get the latest releases. Yes, we could probably get a similar range of music elsewhere but this stuff is built in and works right out of the box. For all of us, it's a game changer in how we consume and enjoy music.

Too much mod

Dear Mod, can you restore Gerry Perez's post with the offending language appropriately obfuscated? The follow up posts now have no context for what was a truly funny post that collected a huge number of upvotes.

Genuinely LOL'ed at that awesome rant. Have an upvote :)

Re: And it looks like...

This works perfectly, thank you!

As Shades says, check that the content of the file is what is posted earlier. Apps like TextEdit on my Mac adds content before the css code that breaks it.

Implementation Plan: Successfully Applied

Test Plan: Failed (massively)

Rollback Plan: Initiate. Do it now.

This site is hideous now. Please revert it back to the previous design. Theres far too much black and white stuff going on and waaaay too much scrolling due to its massive size. Other posters have covered most of the badness.

Obligatory 'Jeez' and eye rolling thrown in here too.

3 million Freesat receivers now out there, and boxes to get YouTube

Re: No Dave!

Who needs Dave for Top Gear? All 18 previous series are on Netflix and BBC's iPlayer has the current series.

I cancelled my Sky subscription in December and the only thing I miss is the ability to record programmes so I'm looking at a Freesat box to do just that. Freesat + Netflix = all I need.
