Had a play, and it's very good

The price is high, sure, but as mentioned it's not much more than your average twin tuner PVR.

The integration of the online ondemand services into the EPG, forward and backward, is the key thing, and it is excellent. I will never want to faff about on iPlayer, or ITVplayer or 4OD after playing with this. And those things are painful if you are searching for something using a remote.

is the only pvr in the world where you have to trawl through the listings each week to mark what you want to record. It has been designed by people who have never used a pvr before, and seemingly is designed by people who don't use it.

Cheap as chips, and don't sound bad, but the falling out is a bit of a pain. Also I am prone to wax buildup and these end up looking moderately unpleasant. I also like the CX200s (as my phone has a 2.5mm jack). Am buying some CX300s right this second to try 'em out. £14 seems like you can't go too far wrong.

But no one has followed up on someone's point above about rustling noise from cords. On my CX200s, if they rub against my zip, it's very loud.

I have a harmony 525, and it is fine, although I get the odd send a million signals burst from it, and lately the backlight has been on a lot more than it used to be (running the batteries down).

Sometimes the help button turns on my projector, which is the last thing I want to happen for a few seconds before I go to bed...

Programming it is quite painful - in fact, I've had mine for 3 years or more and I still find that I want to tweak it every now and again, and when I come to plug it into the PC, I somewhat lose the will to live.

You can get kits to control your PS3 via IR, but they seem to involve cannibalising a Sony bluetooth remote, and they don't work when the PS3 is in standby. But you can get them.

Nokia 6500 Slide mobile phone

I've had a 6500 for a couple of months, and as an upgrade to the 6233, it's not fabulous.

Yes, you get a camera (with pretty bad colour balance) with flash, and quite a bit more memory, but that's really about it.

The music player software is a slight improvement, and the video player software now has fast forward and rewind, and text free playback, but it ain't close to perfect. Why can't the video player respect folders. If I dump a film into a folder, one would imagine that it would be easy to play all the files in that folder. Nope. Instead _all_ your video files are dumped into one big pool. Why would anyone imagine that anyone would watch a video in anything other than full screen mode?

Also, I have terrible trouble with buttons not doing what they should. I can hear a beep when I press the button, but it does nothing until I open and close the phone.

Still, at least it's not an N95 with it's plethora of redundant buttons and 'speedy' menus.

And don't get me started on Sony Ericsson.

Clone Wars has had two series, and finished years ago.

The new tv series has been in production for ages, I think they were showing some footage at Celebration: Europe in June(?)..

I have a pretty bog standard nokia. It has a music player. It has a camera. I can smurf the internet. I can make phone calls. I can check my gmail.

The iphone may be able to do some of these things better, but there is nothing new apart from a snazzy touch screen interface.

If I'd wanted a touch screen interface, I'd have bought a pocket pc or similar. I want a phone I can make a call with one handed with no problems.

With this phone, could I chuck it in my bag and not worry? Stuff it in my back pocket and forget it? I tried those things with my ipod and now I'm stuck with an ipod whose wheel works about 1% of the time. I did all that with my phone and it is as good as new.

(I actually like convergence - I use my phone camera quite a lot, and if the picture was better I'd be happy - I'd use my phone as an mp3 player if only the pop-port headphone connector worked better - I use it more than I ever imagined as an mp3 player through the speakers - and I do use it as a video player quite a bit.

I want is a nokia 6233 that takes an 8gig SDHC card, has a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, and a better headphone connection [possibly a better music player interface], runs the new opera mini and looks like the new 6500 classic - that's a better phone than the iPhone right there!)
