Burn all the coal, oil – No danger of sea level rise this century from Antarctic ice melt

ReduceGHGs

Human-caused climate change is reality. One that if we ignore will put our future generations at risk.

Join the efforts to reduce emissions. Start by helping get the climate change deniers OUT of our U.S. Congress. Apathy/inaction on our part effectively advocates for more of the same destructive behaviors. We can't afford it.

Re: No

Gore is NOT the issue. He's been telling us what the experts have been saying for decades.

We here in the West are responsible for most of the pollution in the atmosphere and oceans. We've also benefited the most from the polluting activities. Shifting the focus to China and India is self-serving. Let's get our house cleaned up first before we point fingers at others. And with enforceable trade laws/policies our trading partners will follow suit if they want to continue trading with the world's largest consumers.

Learn more about climate change and join the efforts to force a change in course.

This will no doubt be used by some as an excuse to reject the current state of climate change science. They'll grasp at ANYTHING to prop up their baseless opinions! The fossil fuel industry loves the gullible people. Learn more about climate change. Google: NASA Climate Change Consensus

Disputed by two Members of Parliament? No surprise. So long as we have powerful vested interests there will be some climate change deniers in politics. But that doesn't alter reality. We are deteriorating our only habitat. Our future generations will be forced to live in the altered world we leave them.

Re: when

So you base your opinion about climate change on your experience rather than what the scientists have been saying for decades? Try to find a study or ONE respected scientific institution to support the deniers' opinion. You can't because there aren't any. Read up.

There's no real debate among the informed about the core issue despite what this article says. Humans are warming the planet and the consequences are not good. The vested fossil fuel interests work to inject public doubt where no reasonable scientific doubt exists. They're willing to put future generations at risk for profit. It's immoral.

Get Active!

Human-caused climate change is real and it is hazardous to long-term habitability of the earth. These are facts. Read what the experts have been saying for years.

So what are we doing about it? What are YOU doing about it? Apathy/inaction effectively advocates more of the same destructive behaviors. For those of us that can think critically and are informed we know that we can and MUST do better. So join the efforts. Get involved. Don't be someone that just goes with the flow. Swim!

Pine trees' scent 'could prevent climate change really being a problem'

This article states... "both sides of the climate debate"

It implies that there are TWO reasonable sides to the issue of human-caused climate change. There aren't. Human-caused climate change is well established science and has been for decades. Among the world's respected scientific institutions that considered the issue, ALL of them agreed that the we are contributing to the warming. The consequences are not good. It amounts to global deterioration of the biosphere's habitability.

More of use need to do something about it. Join the efforts insisting that US Congressmen/women enact meaningful laws to reduce emissions. Apathy/inaction only advocates more of the same destructive behaviors.

It's one of many indicators. We are warming the earth and the consequences are not good. Read what NASA, NAS, AAAS, AIP, MET, AGU, and others say. There's no credible doubt.

Re: but... but...

Talk about out of touch with reality! Temps both sea and atmospheric are on their way up, we're seeing a global meltdown, summers are longer, storms are stronger, seas are rising, and the ocean is becoming more acidic. This is reality no matter how bad some don't want to accept it.

Addressing the problem

The more effective way to deal with climate change is to have policy makers in Washington DC that are willing to enact laws and regulations to reduce emissions. Currently we have too many obstructionists (mainly industry backed Republicans) in the Senate and House. Confront your policy maker and insist they take meaningful action. If they don't work to have them removed. Our future generations are at risk. Apathy, denial, and/or ignorance are poor excuses for inaction.

Re: No, that's NOT what this means.

Yea, we learned what plants need in the 6th grade but thanks anyway. News Flash... Too much of anything can be harmful?

And do you mean to say that there's money to be made informing people about climate change? Really? There's certainly a lot of money blowing around to confuse people. The fossil fuel industry has been funding the disinformation about it for years!

Deniers have baseless beliefs

Those that say human-caused climate change is not occurring are either in denial (an illness), are uninformed, are misinformed, or they lie. The fact is that EVERY respected scientific institution around the world that considered the issue came away with the same basic conclusion... HUMANS are warming the planet. This is a fact. The vested fossil fuel interests spread propaganda to the contrary in an attempt to sway public opinion and thereby policy trends. Our future generations deserve some critical thinking because without a healthy habitat they will suffer. Join the fight to protect the biosphere's habitability. Consider it a matter of self-preservation. It is.

ReduceGHGs

No, that's NOT what this means.

Continuing to add more and more GHG pollution will only make habitability worse for those generations to come. The effects continue for hundreds of years at least. Let's get to work, NOW, to reduce GHG pollution.

Sustainable Cultures

Lets not get distracted. Humans are warming the planet and the consequences are NOT GOOD. Sure, we don't have all the answers: ice sheet melt rates, how much warming will occur, how much more acidic will the oceans become, how low will diminished fresh water supplies get, etc. Keep your eye on the goal... We need to move to sustainable cultures. The rate at which we are deteriorating our only habitat is NOT sustainable in the long run and it endangers our future generations. We need to change course or we will suffer the consequences.
