Plasma space-drive aces efficiency numbers: Set for ISS in 2014

Drew
Thumb Up

I'd like to see the potential...

Give this is just the test version, how about we speculate on how much more powerful / fuel efficient this thing could get with bunch of development chucked at it. So, it's only .57 today, what about after a few years of investment?

Seems like it has a lot of potential.

Heat and Temperature are not the same thing!

@Hmmm.

Heat and temperature are not the same thing. You have have extreme temperatures without actually having a great deal of heat. Temperature is effectively the vibration of atoms. If you don't have a lot of atoms you don't have much heat, regardless of the temperature of those atoms.

The Sun at its surface is around 6000 celcius, in the core several million. Pick a number in between and you will find that 'somewhere in the interior of the sun' there's your number.

@Fake moon landings...

It infuriates me no end that there are supposedly rational people who still dispute the veracity of the 69-onwards moon landings; it demonstrates a severe lack of scientific literacy and comprehension.

It's the end result of unbridled cynicism, far to prevalent in IT circles.

Still, makes for a great interview question - "Do you think the moon landings were faked?" "Yes!" .... CV immediately goes in the circular file.

There is a big reason to go 3.0 from 2.4

One word.

Comments.

OO Notes functionality works like comments in 'Word' now. This is a big deal for a lot of people. Oh, and track changes works properly in 3.0 too. User interface is much improved.

Wow!

That really is quick. If we can get this engine running then the whole solar system opens up for exploration. Let's boldly go!

@Clive Harris

My 2000 spec Mk1 Audi A4 TDI (160bhp, 1.9 TDI, remapped) can carry 4-5 people and luggage no problem.

60+mpg on a long run, 45mpg around town, typically 700 miles on a tank of diesel.

0-60 in 8 and a bit seconds, air-con, cruise, electric everything etc.

Better looking than a Prius, faster, just as economical, far less expensive (£ and environmental impact) to make/repair.

You can buy one for under £3000 secondhand too.

Maybe Patrick Moore is loosing it....

He told Metro: "It certainly wasn't an asteroid. And the last comet to hit us was about 65 million years ago, when the theory is it wiped out the dinosaurs."

Wasn't the last comet to hit was the Tunguska one in 1908??

Good and Bad memories

Good : Anything by Ultimate play the game: Jet Pac et al. Fighter Pilot, Tomahawk and the excellent Lords of Midnight. Elite eventually arrived too.

Bad: Waiting 20 minutes to play a game and then seeing the dreaded "R: Tape loading error" followed by a 'new'.

Test, test and test again

Drew

Testing first I think...

"Should testing drives development or development drive testing?"

Judging by the typo in the above sentence, I suggest that testing might be worth considering as the driver. ;-)
