Muslim clerics issue fatwa banning the devout from Mars One 'suicide' mission

Rob73!

Should that be less? A very big part of ALL the problems in the world, let alone a trip to Mars, is that Muslims (and other religious nutters) read "their" book too bloody much.

Medieval fairy tales, which have no basis in fact or logic should be consigned to history.

Re: No....

Don't they also have "mountain time" as well?

I find it scary and amusing in equal measure that such a backward nation can rise to become not just a Superpower, but a Hyperpower, yet be totally oblivious to see how the wider world views them.

A despicable country, that still maintains the illusion that they are the "Land of the Free"

Re: aware of world beyond their borders

I can;t remember where I saw that stat for US passport holders, but it's no where near 30%. Somewhere between 5-12% ISTR.

I could be wrong though.

Confirmed that Miranda did have a lawyer present, but only for the last hour. While technically correct, the devil as always is in the detail.

Re: g e Of coure it isn't

Umm, just slightly of the mark, with your comments;

1. Although an ally the US is no friend of any nation or state when the wishes of the US government clash with the wishes of a so called friend or ally. No doubt you still beleive the BS, that we in the UK anjoy a "special relationshsip" with the US.

2. Most people, who you dreide as being unaware of the implications of Wikileaks and\or Snowden as not having 2a fucking clue" are infact well informed and educated and have often servered within the very infrstrastructure that is being used illegally, without oversight and ofetn with the tacit approval of the PM/President. As one such person, I can understand the need to use intelligence to prevent bad things from happening. What I and others object to is the inference that we are all potential terrorists.

3. There is a growing beleif, again contrary to your opinion in the Western world that our socalled liberal democratic governments shoudl be just that. And accountable to the very people who they claim to represent.

4. As can already be seen, our Governments are using poorly drafted, barely debated legislation to restrict, circumvent civil liberties. While the focus today maybe on people like Assange, Manning and Snowden, tomorrow it might you or I simply for challenging the government of the day. You can't comapre event from 60 years ago to what is happening today and to do so is diengenius.

5. The WTC attack in 93, the USS Cole, 9/11, 7,7, etc all were carried out sucessfully despite widespread surveillence. Our governments are using their chosen bogeymen; Terrorist, Muslims, Peados's to scare us into submission, so if you think that the worls you want to live in to justify your myopic view, then no doubt you'll continue to beleive everythin you are told and agree with Sir Malcolm Rifkind, who only this morning suggested that the authroties can be trusted. I submit that history will show that you are backing the wrong side of this arguement (though I respect you for at least having an opinion).

Brazilians tear strip off NSA in wake of Snowden, mull anti-US-spook law

Rob73!

Re: trust diminished

Short answer? No.

Big Brother

I''m not sure that storing data locally will help. the Snowden slides suggest and I think the NSA have allued to the fact that most internet traffic is routed through the Land of the Free (Irony intended) before it is stored. So having a local storage farm is utterly irrelevant. This is how the NSA,etc can data slurp on such a level.

Effectively it sounds like Brazil wants a contry wide Intranet. Nice idea, but unwaorkable in the digital age i'm afraid.

Big Brother, obvs.

Using encryption? That means the US spooks have you on file

Too late.....

Playing devils advocate here......

If you own a msartphone, have an online presence, use a supermarket loyalty card, then i think you have to accept that you are consenting to surrendering at least some of your privacy. And if you have been doing the above for anumber of years already, it's probably too late to stop your details being logged if not looked at.

That being said, I don't think Government should be able to slurp data on the industrial scale that it appears to be doing so at present. It's equally not defensible to suggest that it's soley to combat "terrorism". As the very definition of "Terrorism" can change. Today it's largely inferred to be Islamist terrorists. Tomorrow it could be you or I, simply because we don;t like the current government of the day.

Can't see that using encryption is going to be worse than sending traffic unencrypted. Yes it might flag a trigger, but unless they demand to nsee your private key they won;t be reading it.

Also, I think considering just how far removed from sanity and democracy our respective governments seem to be moving, people like Brad Manning and Ed Snowden are more important than ever before.

2. Work as billed. At least before service packs 3, 4, & are released

3. Ignored as no one wants to upgrade.

Really don't understand why everyone is so against giving the state more power? After all if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear.

I have complete faith and trust in our law enforcement, judicial and political system and beleive that no abuse would be allowed top happen. After all the Police, Judges and MP's are all honest, dedicated anand would never seek to gain personally from public office............

Oh, wait....
