Brexit text-it wrecks it: Vote Leave fined £40k for spamming 200k msgs ahead of EU referendum

Babbit55

Re: Dodgy behavior by Vote Leave?

No, it was none binding because it was a referendum. If it had been legally binding it would have been declared null and void because one party broke campaign laws so badly and lied massively as part of it.

Babbit55

Re: Dodgy behavior by Vote Leave?

One very important note here, from your own link that proves this was NOT legally binding.

(1) A referendum is to be held

Please see this bit of information.

"Referendums are not legally binding, so legally the Government can ignore the results; for example, even if the result of a pre-legislative referendum were a majority of "No" for a proposed law, Parliament could pass it anyway, because parliament is sovereign."

Re: @Babbit5

Wow, so all sales people are bad right?

Yes I work in sales, though I trained in IT/Networking and that is where I started, and while in Sales I am of the technical sales, so giving demos and the like.

Hate sales all you want, but without sales people then nothing would progress and most people would not have jobs, also the best sales people actually tell the truth, especially in a SaaS/Cloud model since if you sell on a lie people can cancel right away so it would only bite you in the arse.

Now does physical kit have a place and have pros? Yes. Does that mean Cloud is pointless and bad? No, Somethings are just better suited for the cloud and having physical systems for them is counter intuitive. Tech progresses, learn to move with it, or be left in the past.

Also notice how I don't hide behind Anonymous coward?

Babbit55

Re: Cloud just means...

Given the pro on prem kit these comments are showing, I am expecting massive downvotes.

Having worked with Cloud products for near 10 years now, I can say that in general they are much more reliable and lower cost than an on prem equivalent. Sure you cannot stroke the tin, though you do get a much better infrastructure from a company that invests millions/billions and has SLA's around it all than the bit of tin you got from the reseller round the corner.

I highly doubt that they would limit the elec and gas usage and cause blackouts, that is ridiculous. Though I honestly have little clue who to actually vote for as they are all out of touch, and it is a sad state of affairs when the closest parties to even consider are still very out of touch

Behold the Lumia 535 NOTkia: Microsoft wipes Nokia brand from mobes

Babbit55

Re: Meh

Having had my 520 for well over a year now with the Dev preview I have yet to come across any of the issues you have had there. I used to use android and my work phone is an iPhone 4s, I can confidently say with the experience using winphone it is easily the best smart phone i have owned and I plan to upgrade to the 535 as for the price that looks amazing.

Try owing a winphone before hating on them just because it is cool to hate Microsoft

Blackberry were arguably the first to have them built into the phone (you could also get those flashing dangely things that worked off the phone signal pickup back in the days of dumb phones) and Android phones like the Moto G have it too. I don't think any winphones have it yet, well at least the nokia range don't. Though this really doesn't bother me with my 520!

Re: Is this the review of a camera or a phone?

Here maps is the best satnav I have used, are you sure you are using a windows phone? Syncing to MS cloud is nice, not seen any random battery usage and my mail for our standard SMTP server worked without a hitch. You shouldn't be using your phone while driving so locking screens shouldn't be a problem while you drive! also use the right search button, the one on the device goes to bing though the one within the apps menu searches apps.

Just to point out I live near and use the M62 frequently and my 520 hasn't failed me on a journey yet, en-fact my wife nicks my phone to go to work sometimes cause she dislikes the satnavs available on her iPhone!

Babbit55

Re: er, specs?

Being a Win 8 phone the battery life shouldn't be too bad. My 520 lasts for ever, normal use I can get about 2.5 days out of it, my work iPhone struggles with 1!

REVEALED: Google's proposed indie music-killing contract terms

Babbit55

Re: An opportunity to vote with your wallet...

Actually aren't they all signed to "Indie" record labels? I think Dion and Byonce may have been with Sony for a time though left for Columbia and Beiber is on Jay Z's is he not?

So you wouldn't get those 3. You would be left largely with older records and manufactured bands for those labels.

Babbit55

Re: Watch the lawsuites fly...

Windows 8 actually does have your Onedrive as a drive basically, works well too I have a Lumia and when I take a photo it automatically goes to Onedrive, really easy way of doing cloud storage I think! For general usage 2GB of storage is fine, as for sharing I have shared some videos from the Xbox online easily along with some photos with friends.

Sony on the ropes after revising losses UP to $1.3 BEEELLION

Babbit55

Re: It's not my birthday today!

Why would you celebrate a company failing so much? If it is the gamer angle then seriously as a xbox owner and live user for a good 9/10 years I want Sony to succeed because if they fail and it is just Microsoft in the mainstream console industry then gamers will get screwed over royally.

Microsoft may slash price of Windows 8.1 on cheap 'slabs

Babbit55

Re: When are they going to get it in their thick skulls...

Got to admit, Win 8 on a touch device is a nice experience, just the store badly needs apps. Having moved from my many years of using Android on my personal phone and having an iPhone for work when I moved to a Nokia 520 I don't think I will look back at Android as Win 8 feels fluid and runs much better than my Android phones ever had!

Re: "none of them have had any security problems"

The single best way to keep a network secure is to keep EVERTHING up to date, if you cannot update the OS then you will very quickly have a site full of security holes, it will just be a matter of time till you are compromised (if you aren't already)

Security threats nowadays don't scream out, they hide and do not want to be found. AV alone will not keep your machines safe

Re: Why I "bought" an Iphone when my HTC went tits up

I think your problem was buying HTC, they are quite poor build quality wise, I would say though that iPhone was not the only choice for high end smart phone. When my HTC Desire died on me I had a look around and picked up the Nokia 520, I really like it, runs nicely and the apps work well, overall I may be a bit of a windows phone convert.

I used to have an iPhone for work and after countless "Called Failed" messages when swapping from 3G to edge or not having at least 3 bars I was glad to be rid of it

Babbit55

Re: Windows Phone vs. iPhone

I have to admit I am the same, having used Android now since like 2009 and having used a host of devices and having a Nexus 7, my HTC bit the dust and I only have about 6 months left on my contract so I decided to buy a 520 outright and get a cheaper contract on renewal or if I hated Win8 go back to android however even with my investment I have to admit I really like the 520 and I am even considering upgrading to the 920 come renewal!

All in all I am impressed with the windows phone offerings it is a very smooth OS though it could do with a few more apps

Re: re: like the otherOS stuff

I never even owned a PS3, so I don't miss it I am just saying while Microsoft may not be the best, Sony don't exactly smell of roses here and are well known for their love of DRM.

As for the Kinnect, I got one for my 360 and it is great fun, will be looking forward to what happens with the new version especially once my little boy gets bigger and can use it too.

Babbit55

Noone is likely to rock the boat right at release, knowing Sony this kind of stuff will be snook in once the PS4 is sittled, like the Other OS stuff.

Babbit55

Mine was pre-ordered on the day I could do it! Day 1 edition too! Shame they turned round on the always online thing, was looking forward to being able to digitally sell games and borrow digital games from friends.

Bradley Manning* sentenced to 35 years in prison

Babbit55

Re: No....

Let me take my stance on this, I am on the fence. Sure he stole material and released it for whatever his reasons may be this is espionage and theft HOWEVER, it was also the act of a whistleblower showing the wrong doings of the government. A tricky situation indeed, He should serve however the credit for what he has already endured should be much higher.
