Re: I wonder how much Nintendo would pay for Xbox

The Japanese mentality wouldn't let Nintendo buy Xbox because that would be admitting their product was not suitable and they made a mistake.

To be honest I think the Wii U is going to have better sales figures this Christmas than people expect. A lot of parents are going to look at the PS4 and Xbox One see the prices and buy their kid a Wii U.

For more recent successes we also released a paper aircraft in space in 2009 and crashed Beagle 2 into Mars with the assistance of the ESA in 2003

Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Once, twice, three times - a Very Large Phone™

Shrimpling

Re: It's inevitable...

"You can get a stylus for almost any phone - the only difference is that one has a slot to store it"

A Generic capacitive Stylus is not the same as the Stylus that comes with the Note. It works when you hover over the screen and has a button on it that changes the functionality. They sound like simple things but having used a generic stylus on my old phone you can really notice the difference.

One of the things I use it for is scrolling down web pages by hovering over the bottom of the page, then using it to accurately select some text for me to copy any paste into the comments box. being able to select a single point with the stylus is much more accurate than using my man sized fingers to select something.

The hover effect also allows you to use old school websites not designed with touch screen in mind that want you to hover over the menu to select the other options.

Shrimpling

Re: It's inevitable...

I have another 18 months on my contract so I will be getting a inevitable Note 4 when my contract expires, all because of the stylus.

The only things I can think of that would cause me to defect from the Note range is another phone with a similar stylus and a fold out keyboard.

I would blame the popular media for getting your expectations up... when they were talking about ISON on the Sky at Night earlier in the year they made a point of saying they didn't know what it would look like when it got here and were only hoping it would be a good one due to how close it was going to get to the Sun.

Official crackdown on Apple fanboi 'shanty town' ahead of London iPhone launch

Shrimpling

Re: Really?

Its not the tent that is the awesome idea, it is sitting in front of the shop and getting put on news websites that is the awesome idea. Its a free advert for the release date of the new phone. I expect there will be something about it on the BBC news tonight which is even better for Apple... a free advert on the BBC.

The cynic in me would assume that apple didn't apply for the license on purpose so it got reported in this way instead of "Only 2 guys are bothering to queue for the new iPhone".

Shrimpling

Re: Democracy by Mumsnet

The answer in this is when the filter is in place is to start reporting these sites to your ISP as inappropriate.

Social Media as well... all sorts of degenerates have a Twitter or Facebook account that the little ones need to be protected from.

It will hopefully become a contest for the Anonymous types to see which sites they can get blocked by the porn filter.

Then 6 months down the line when Claire Perry can no longer post on Twitter because of the ISP ban this will quietly be removed and we can all go back to normal.
