Why would you of^h^hhave been forced to give up your Asus router? I've got the same router (and I too think very highly of it) and mine works perfectly well with the 30mb upgrade with all the routing features of the SuperHub turned off.

I've yet to hear the noise from the router's PSU. However, with a 5-year-old in the house then hearing myself think is usually more than I can wish for.
