Privacy activists to UK plod: Wanna slurp folks' phone records? Come back with a warrant

Actually, it's fairly easy for the police to manufacture an indictable offence...they just tag the words "conspiracy to..." on to whatever it is they decide to charge you with.

The word "conspiracy" automatically makes the offence indictable (my son was charged with "conspiracy to cause criminal damage", which had to be tried at a Crown Court. The Judge happened to see through the police and CPS motives for bringing the trivial case and dismissed it immediately at a preliminary hearing).

Piracy funding 'organised crime'?

Does that presume the funding of 'disorganised crime' is OK?

In any case, isn't it the legitimate copies of DVD's, CD's etc. which are funding the drugs industry, given the propensity of Hollywood and the music industry generally for the consumption of, let's call it, Colombian marching powder?

In fact, couldn't a valid case be proved that piracy is actually preventing the premature deaths of celebs by NOT funding their drugs habits?

Incidentally, I still have Quake 3 on my system (although I haven't played it for many years).

Erm...

Just my personal view...

Bought my first album in 1970, for 30 shillings (alright, £1.50 in today's money)

"Super Session", featuring Mike Bloomfield, Stephen Stills, Al Kooper, Harvey Brooks etc...

10 years later (not After, thanks , Alvin, et al), it was released on a cassette.

Bought it. Forgot the price..

10 years later, released on CD.

Again, I bought it. About £12, I think.

Now, I've downloaded it to play on my mp3 player...for free.

Because of that, I'm a fucking pirate and need to be imprisoned????

Fuck. Right .Off.
