Have it all: BlackBerry to port crown jewels to iPhone, Android

sinfocomar

Re: Should have made Android handsets in the first place

They thought about it... project was too expensive and they couldn't be sure Android would be as secure or if they could even diferentiate in an already crowded market. Blackberry 10 was the way to go...

Good grief! Have you seen BlackBerry's square smartphone?

Re: Does anyone actually use these?

Sure, mostly when driving. Press the bluetooth speakerphone button, get a beap, "Call name or number" works perfectly.

Big Blue Apple: IBM to sell iPads, iPhones to enterprises

sinfocomar

IBM... hasn't gotten anything right in the enterprise least of all software. Lotus Notes has in fact lost its place. They didn't have to do much and are failing in just keeping it current and relevant. I doubt Blackberry has anything to worry about... nice try at getting headlines

BlackBerry claims ugly duckling Passport mobe is a swan in the offing

BB10 uses Active Sync (full EAS up to 14.1) by default. You don't need BIS (Blackberry Internet Service contract plan anymore. However enterprises can take advantage of BES10 for extra security and manageability.

Re: There is a Gotcha to the VIP list

All Blackberries are secure devices. They take several minutes to boot just like any Samsung Android with the Knox software addon. That's the way you spot a truly secure device at boot time.

Galaxy S4 way faster than iPhone 5: Which?

FAIL

Headline grabber - not useful benchmark per se

right on from the comments "The problem is that Geekbench isn’t a real world test, doesn’t take account of differences between mobile operating systems, and doesn’t test graphical performance at all. As such, using it like this mostly just serves to give you a headline rather than meaningfully useful information for consumers about which devices will actually perform better during actual use. I kinda expected better from Which?. "

BlackBerry 10: AWESOME. If the hardware matches it, RIM jobs are safe

Re: Honestly, too little too late

Battery pulls? thats veeery old news. Doesnt happen anymore. This is a completely new platform+OS. I already see its reliability on my Playbook. Awesome stuff.

Re: I ditched Blackberry ( after 5 phones )

iCloud has died several times this year alone. Just say it: you wanted the pretty phone with the wider screen. No shame on admiting it. Now RIM has one as well. You can return and leave the old apple dog behind. :)

Thumb Up

I agree: the Storm sucked. But that was RIMs first attempt at a touch screen phone. They've gotten much better at it. BB6 and 7 touchphones are waaaaay better. From the handson videos I can see they are very good.

Re: We just need RIM to be taken over by HP...

RIM is doing fine. HP on the other hand might benefit from a takeover.

Re: One-trick pony

BB10/QNX is on just about any car in the USA. You have no clue whatsover. Also I have a Playbook and it'll upgrade to BB10 seamlessly. How's the rest of the tablets regarding getting a new major OS? You'd better start saving for the next iPad...

Re: "But phones sell on the user interface"

You probably haven't seen the "boy meeting girl in bar" BB ad and other latest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzPPOCHMaZI&playnext=1&list=PL6301D83540D8BAEE&feature=results_main

The iPhone and iOS are the oldest dogs around... they're not cool anymore. Right now Samsung and others are far cooler.

Re: email without BB services

There have always been standalone email clientes for the Blackberry much like K9 on Android. Of course BB10 is not out yet, but I can tell you from my Playbook (already running QNX) I have email without needing a Blackberry phone or monthly data plan.

Even US generals have realised BlackBerries are uncool

Title should be "Pentagon will continue to use BlackBerry phones" and buy more stuff from RIM

"The U.S. Defense Department last week invited companies to submit bids for software that can monitor, manage and enforce security requirements for devices made by Apple and Google Inc, with an eye to awarding a contract in April."

RIM spokesman Paul Lucier said his company's BlackBerry Mobile Fusion product could also be used to manage Android and Apple devices, and RIM was "excited for the opportunity to include BlackBerry Mobile Fusion in the DOD's portfolio."

Re: Bye Bye Flash

Flash player for Blackberry Playbook: no crashes, no malware. Flash is not the only problem when security is an issue on a specific platform.

PS: For those that will add "no crashes, no malware, NO APPS" you might want to look again.

Cheers.
