Re: Same old...2% market share..
Actually near 5% in PC according to new figures of W3Counter. On the other hand of all new devices with internet connection some 63% are using Linux system (Android, ChromeOS, Ubuntu, Mint...)

Net Application (markets share) is based on pay-per-click sites (76%) with only 10% of data from social media sites. That's why 1.45% for Linux means in reality something like 4-5% in real life. You should remember that ChromeBook took some 3-4% of portables last year which is double the claims of Net Application.
I haven't used Windows since 2008. And just like most of Linux users we don't care about Windows.
Market share of new devices during Q3 2014:
-smartphone : 83% for Linux
-tablet : 73% for Linux
-----------------------------------
total mobiles: 80% for Linux
New devices (internet connection): 80% mobiles, 20% portables and destops.
With ChromeBook having about 3-4% marketshare of portables and millions of pc installed with Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Suse etc...Linux seems to have now some 65-66% market share of new devices. Linux is over twice bigger than Mac/iOS and Windows together. One study estimated that less than 55% of new desktops and portables are preinstalled with Windows.
After all Windows was never really meant for Internet because it's basically just innate stand-alone-computer-operation system. That's why the record of hundreds of millions of virus infected and billions of malware infected Windows pcs during the last two decades is horrible legacy for this Indian guy. And that guy himself comes from Redmond inner circle.
We can say it clearly - Microsoft is a Neanderthal of IT. Strong but too slow and too stupid to adopt new conditions of life.
Isn’t Bill Gates the guy who decided to switch file-formats periodically to mess up the whole world so they would buy the latest release? Isn’t he the one who decided PCs should slow down so that people would buy a new one every few years? How did that work out for you? How did it work out for M$? The world decided to create ODF and nearly sunk the corporation for consumers. Last I heard, there were a hell of a lot more PCs and OS sold to consumers than businesses. Nevertheless, Gates threatened every business with destruction just for using M$’s products. There’s a recipe for long-term success. It was in the news for months that M$ was threatening whole countries over OOXML. What are those whole countries doing now? In the end, M$ had to support ODF or lose entirely. How much time, money and energy was wasted in the process?
M$ has lots of money to waste. Think real big, Bill!
eI've never been keen on computer games. But every news showing how Linux is better than Windows makes me feel really happy. And there are indeed thousands and thousands of reasons to prefer Linux over Windows. Price, stability, secure, free software, choice, freedom, egology etc... are some of the most important. After moving to Linux i've saved thousands of €uros. No need to buy a new computer every 3 years, instead i'm using happily my old 7½ years old PC with no problems at all.
During the last 14 years i've lost hundreds of files on my computers (mostly because Windows sucks). That's why i'll wellcome cloud computing. And not even Windows have been the only reason for loosing data. Couple of weeks ago i made a mistake by trying OpenBSD and OMG i lost the all extended partitions with 3 Linux distros and hundreds of files (including some multimedia).
As a demented person i'll wellcome cloud computing because at least i could save my files and stop loosing them year after year.
