Re: All very predictable

Not sure where to start with your ravings, I'll give it a go, Republican voters tend to be older;

1. 90+% of Covid death are over 60 years old

2. COVID 19 is just "a case of the sniffles" if your under 60, with no comorbidity

3. Healthy children are unaffected

4. Children who tested positive have been proven not to pass it to members of the same household ergo school is safe.

Re: Amazon.

The world leaders in AI!

Yes, Amazon I did purchase a 55" TV last month*, no, why would I ever want to buy another the next time I log in? If they're world leaders how can we expect self driving cars to ever be a thing? As AC mentioned in the post above, it's ML not AI, and not even very good ML.

If it was AI in the article, it would have responded to the developers and told them how stupid they were being.

*I didn't really, but anyone that's ever shopped there more than once know how idiotic the suggestions are.

Health Sec Hancock says UK will use Apple-Google API for virus contact-tracing app after all (even though Apple were right rotters)

I've said it before here on el Reg

Contact tracing is a lag measure, so effectively useless. i.e. x was on the tube yesterday and was close to someone, y, that tested +ve for C19 today, how many people has person x come in contact with? What if y tests +ve 3 days later? Then x has also been in contact with what, 100, 1000, people? Do they all go into isolation?

Jolly japes

Many moons ago in tech support I incurred the wrath of my colleagues for some unremembered reason, probably leaving my pager on my desk and going out on site. I returned to my desk to find my mouse nonfunctional, ball still there, check, plugged in to the PS/2 socket, check, scratch my head, well it's Win 95, reboot it. Still nothing, trot off to the store room to get a new mouse to test, bingo, it works perfectly!

Whilst pulling the cable for the old mouse out of the cable management on the back of my desk, the PS/2 plug is not moving, then, pop, the plug appears, but there's still a PS/2 mouse plug waving about near my PC? Bastards had hidden my mouse in the cable management, and simply dropped the cable of another mouse into the management tray. Cheers fellas.

Re: Lenovo Fn/CTRL

Wasn't in time to edit, but having just looked at a colleague's MacBook, I guess I'd forgotten, are Lenovo are trying to ape [or lure away users from] apple with the Fn/CTRL placement?
