EU referendum frenzy bazookas online voter registration. It's another #GovtDigiShambles

Sod that.

If you were writing a comment for the guardian - I would be inclined to agree with you.

This issue was *not* voters registering late - it was entirely because of an inadequate infrastructure. There's a whole bunch of reasons for an inadequate infrastructure, but for the vast majority of the time - it's corner cutting.

Not just in terms of inadequate hardware, badly written software - but the expertise needed to identify these. People like you and me.

BUT 6" ? It might feel nicer against the face, can be put on the desk face down without a spec of grit rouning the display - but won't fit in pockets and given the -ablet bit of phablet can't be used resting on a desk.

" (e.g. a safety razor, for example, costs US$20–80 online)"

When the paper's author starts with a premise that can be so easily disproved (many at £4) it not only calls into question the examples he's using for this "study". It seriously casts doubt on their integrity.

To do this with the aim of promoting your hobby casts doubt on your intelligence.

Isn't designing and modelling your own stuff a worthy aim in itself ? Do you really need to make stuff up about how it's also economically viable ?

Re: Just keep your boxes/order online etc

Funny you say that. I have some bottom of the range 85 mps homeplugs that outperform the kit featured in this article.

Thanks for the tip ... but the only real solution (and the one I should have gone for in the first place) is cabling.

I know I have a fairly old home - but these particular devices just don't work well enough in my house.

Unless they are in the same room that lovely little house LED remains an orangey red.

Re: More PC over-over-reaction

Any proof that white middle class people complained about this mostly ?

Or that white people are in a minority in London ?

Or that any council attempted to rename Christmas "Festivalmas" ?

Of course not. Because these "facts" are invention. One reason the world is going mad is because people are so busy getting worked up over their invented versions of reality.

Re: Confused why you'd ever want 3G on a tablet

So let me answer

I don't care about the extra cost (unless it's over £100 then I might)

I would never use 3g to stream video

I tend to use 3g data for a couple of hours a working day (unless you are doing something stupid you won't exceed data allowances)

Using 3g on my phone ruins the battery. (not to mention making it hot enough to melt my face if I want to make a call) A tablet usually has a better battery, is used for a few hours a day - but I need my phone to be available at all times.

So 3g on a tablet (for me) makes sense. If you already own a device a sim only plan with generous enough data allowances doesn't cost that much. Two parallel contracts is no harder to run that one.

In short, to everyone who can't see the point of a 3g device. You aren't everyone.

Re: Want

Three hours commuting per day.

Browsing from my phone alone will screw the battery. If it had to act as a hot spot as well I think it would be lucky to last one way.

(assuming screen use doesn;t burn more power than tethering, which may be close)

Want

I want a 7" tablet

But I also want a micro-sd slot. A also want a 3g option

I don't *want* to use my phone as a 3g hotspot. My phone is a valuable business tool, a 7" tablet something fun to play on while I travel. I don't want to waste the battery on the important device to support the not-so-important one.

Second phone contract is preferable to carrying around a separate device.

No doubt I'll be downvoted by people who have trouble understanding people may have different needs to them.
