Re: IR35
IR35 hardly effects anyone. It is very easy to plan around and avoid.

This is because REFS is new and Microsoft have chosen stability and conservative approach over features and functionality.
Microsoft have already stated that once it is proven REFS will replace NTFS for boot volumes and all current NTFS functionality will gradually be added.
Strange that Windows admins get so much better pay rates than Linux admins then if that were true. Oh wait, it isnt - there we go. Windows server market share is still growing massively - at the expense of UNIX.
nb - Powershell is also way head of anything used as a standard shell on Linux.
But you can visit a website with Linux and be compromised via Flash or Java vulnerabilities...There have been many kernel exploits that could then be leveraged...
The way software is distributed and the capbilities of the installer are far more advanced than anything on Linux - for instance package streaming. If you want to lock down software installs you can use App Locker, or you can block unsigned applications.
I have never needed to install Cygwin on Windows. If I want to run legacy applications / platforms I just use Virtual Server or Hyper-V.
Powershell is more powerful and flexible than any standard UNIX or Linux shell code.
You clearly havnt bothered to find out how the signing process works.
You would likely find it easier to compromise other OSs before Windows via that method - this is similar to the Pwn to Own contest - and OS-X looses before Windows prettty much every year...
Sounds nice doesnt it, but unfortunately not true. Windows 7 ~ 200 vulnerabilities, OS-X ~ 1700 vulnerabilities, SUSE 10 ~ 3700 vulnerabilities. See secunia.org/
Windows has had fewer vulnerabilities that were on average less critical and were fixed faster than enterprise Linux distributions every year since 2003....
For reference even Windows XP only has about 450 known vulnerabiliites.
You do realise that they will expense the Pizza?
nb, 4 sysadmins around a screen may also be a sign of good porn - maybe a hot intern returned her mobile without remembering to wipe those intimate shots? Or uploaded all her very personal photos to her network drive?....
Hyper-V including all it's functionality like replication, software defined networking and shared nothing migration is completely free as in zero licence cost. There are no Hyper-V costs to stack up - except support - unless you want the Microsoft management tool stack - and its still an order of magnitude cheaper than VMWare.
Wow, what a load of poorly informed FUD. What about the market leading development tools, the market leading UC platform in Lync? the market leading Office applications, The worlds most popular email system in Outlook.com? The worlds fastest browser in IE10, etc, etc...
Active Directory is based on LDAP and Kerberos whereas NDS was based on X500. Having used both, I can't think of anything that strikes me as a direct copy of NDS - maybe you could enlighten us?
Exchange datastore and SQL server are designed for very different things so i dont see your point here - Exchange has lower IOP and storage requirements than any competing mail system versus number of users / transactions, so I guess you are saying that Access has an amazingly scalable and efficient database engine in JET for an office product? I assume you refer to SQL being based on code purchased from Sybase. Since SQL server 2005 there has no longer been any legacy Sybase code in SQL server.
Server 2008 R2 - no idea what you are on about here. R2 only added functionality and it works just fine with a mix of platforms.
Windows 7 - many times more functionality was added than was removed. So what do you care about that was removed? I cant think of a single thing that mattered.
Server 2008 also installed without a GUI.
Windows 8 - more secure - more efficient - new functionality - and reinvented for touch and guesture - which is likely the future of computing.
The phenomenon was caused by severe drought combined with farming methods that did not include crop rotation, fallow fields, cover crops or other techniques such as soil terracing and wind-breaking trees to prevent wind erosion.[1] Extensive deep plowing of the virgin topsoil of the Great Plains in the preceding decade had displaced the natural deep-rooted grasses that normally kept the soil in place and trapped moisture even during periods of drought and high winds. Rapid mechanization of farm implements, especially small gasoline tractors and widespread use of the harvester-combine were significant in the decisions to convert grassland (much of which received no more than 10 inches (250 mm) of precipitation per year) to cultivated cropland.
During the drought of the 1930s, without natural anchors to keep the soil in place, it dried, turned to dust, and blew away with the prevailing winds
But the 'bad software' was better than the competition. IE9 was faster than Chrome and firefox on release - and has had far fewer security vulnerabilities than either of them.
And now IE10 is also faster than the lastest Chrome and Firefox: http://www.neowin.net/news/ie10-is-8-faster-than-chrome-20-says-strangeloop
Nokia will easily get 50%+ of the WP market. The US market - whilst not being anything like as significant as Europe - is also new to Nokia, so they have growth opportunities.
They are still #2 global mobile phone manufacturer don't forget - and their devices are also likely to sell well in the massive markets of India, China, etc.
It is only a short term exclusivity agreement (6 months) - and only for the 920. The others can sell the 820 and any other models that Nokia come out with...
This has a lot in common with other markets such as the US and Canada - and is a way of getting the carriers / resellers to lump a lot of the promotion costs - and to get them to promote the Nokia units over other options.
