We're pretty much already there aren't we?
iPhone 4S, 5, 5S, 5C
And most of the Performas I believe were just rebadged versions of other models anyway. Performa 200=Classic 2, Performa 400,450,475=LC2,3,475 (with the 475 essentially being a Quadra 630 without a full '040 processor), Performa 600=IIvi. And that's just the UK models.
The app store issue affected, from what I gather, all users - including those still on WP8. Most likely cause being everybody downloading WP8.1 and it updating everyone's apps from the store at the same time. It just fell over.
Store came back up sometime late last night I think - working fine today too.
I think it was DOS 3.3 where you could have a hard disk as big as you like (to a point), but your partitions couldn't be larger than 32MB. DOS 4 removed that restriction and 5 (I think) brought in support for up to 504MB until DOS 6 let you play with 2GB partitions, if you didn't mind having 32K clusters and your BIOS supported said size, or you were stuck with only being able to use a quarter of your disk.
Reminds me of the last Orange branded Android phone I had - it had an Orange Maps app, Orange Games and I think Orange Store - all needless, useless and unable to be removed without arsing about. Left space for about 3 user installable apps - less if you installed Facebook, which (at the time, as far as I know), doesn't let you move it to the SD card.
Ended up flogging it after I unlocked it, which is when I switched to WP8 and have never looked back.
It's not a nice thing to happen. I experienced it myself a few years ago and it wasn't pleasant... suddenly my best was no longer good enough after 12 months so they started moving the goalposts, telling me I had to improve or go bye-byes. How does one improve when they keep raising their so called standards?
The fun things that can happen when your team leader and then line manager decide to leave for no real reason and HR take over running your department...
