As citizens it falls to us ...
... to act responsibly and respect the government that we elected, clearly we need to encrypt and stenographicly hide everything. How quickly can El Reg move to SSL and implement a PKI system for commentards like I ?

Sitting at home, on a Sunday, there's a knock at the door. You get up and answer it. On your doorstep is a well-dressed young man who asks "Do you use a proprietary operating system on you computer?".
You glance down and see part of a Penguin image on the leaflets he's carrying......
"In dialogue with others we need to be wary of the inane chatter that can go on in the digital world which does nothing to promote growth in understanding and untolerance," he thundered.
Untolerant inane chatter on the internetweb 2.0 ? I don't believe it !
I believe in Jimmy Wales, social intelligence, the loch ness monster, Aliens, copper braclets for rheumatism, Intelligent Design, honest politicians...
I need to take my meds now.
errr, is the church promoting untolerance ? is that a p.c. version of intolerance ?

I've been thinking of giving up work and starting my own cult, generous terms I'll not require the time and effort. Enlightenment cannot be guaranteed as it requires true devotion by the supplicant (tree hugging optional). Guidance by e-mail and irc. any takers ?

Well it looks like the software is a "Loss Leader" for flogging hardware bits, support, services, Bespoke stuff and customerisation. I believe the marketroidic term "Value add" should rear it's ugly head here.......
Code can be produced for a couple of quid a day in any 'developing' country so why bother paying for over-priced lines of text from the u.k. or u.s. ?
Better still if someone (and does it really matter who?) is going to produce the stuff for nothing, wrap it in a 'service' and flog it !
So, do the people producing these wonderful ideas actually have some sort of understanding of how the technology works ? I guess not. So some criminal type in Afgulistan hijacks a Web site owned from the U.k. but cited in Holland and uses it to phish and the U.K. police are going to close the site, so what happens when the legitimate U.K. owner wants to get access to put his web site back ? a nice 'Site blocked' message?
Hey, if you go to the bbc web and read their on line safety stuff , they got attacked by a 'bot p.c. from a thai hospital, shut them down! Who cares about some sick thai people ? Who cares that it isn't the people in the hospital doing the scamming?
Would I lose my e-mail (that I pay for) if someone else used the address as a return address for a spam, even if the e-mail did not originate from my machines ? I get batches of these spoofed mail returns, I can see that they do not originate from my machines or e-mail connection or even from the U.K. but the 'Reply to' email field has <garbage> @ my email address in it, so that bounced emails don't get sent back to the spammer that sent them. Can I sue the companies bouncing these e-mails for harressment ?
As with all reviews I would like one thing added, what happens when the device is plugged into a Linux box, presumably not a lot. Perhaps El Reg can amend it's reviewers guidlines to include at least a 'Tested Not usable with Linux' as a minimum ?
I also wonder can the usb dongles be bought seperatly from the remote so that you could use it on more than one box (we have a set up in the lounge and a second in the bedroom both of which have access to our music )
