My last three Ubuntu upgrades (16>18>20) have been painless, and in fact, kind of boring in a good way.

If you're a SF Giants fan

On a side note, we have older Roku 2XS patched into our little home theatre setup and it works fine.

Started with Dapper Drake, dualbooting with 98SE. Got a lot of help from Ubuntu fora, yet not nearly as much grief as might be expected considering all the stupidity I evinced. Most problems came down to HDD or GPU failures anyway, not OS issues.

Other reasons this is despicable

I've been wondering--since the guy was involved with a beverage company (Coca Cola or some such) --if maybe the reason he got so much VC funding was some speculation (well duh) that they could turn their system into a beverage-dispenser type business model: you see one in every fast food joint, theatre, convenience store, &c here in the states. That's some serious money.

Another reason to hate this is that Oprah gave one away to the cast and crew of A Wrinkle In Time.

Have the original HP deskjet that came with our original W98SE system, it's been working with nary a hiccup since we went with Dapper (Ubuntu 6 ish IIRC), still does now with 16.04.2. Don't print much anymore anyway, thought that's what modern tech was supposed to supplant?

I just use the latest stable Ubuntu and log in with gnome-compiz selected. Easy.

Only reason I keep windows around --not that anybody asked-- (dual-boot on our home box) is for the software for our harmony remote.
