Ten ancestors of the netbook

loopyloo

When did Laptops get renamed as Notebooks, can anyone find the first usage? I'm pretty sure this was a marketing ploy to sow confusion between Netbooks and Notebooks, just like those cunning little meerkats.

Confusion Marketing seems to have been a deliberate stratgey:

Dont forget that BRITISH police have very special requirements not known to the police forces of any other country, just as our firemen, amberlunces, local councils and every other public sector organisation have unique needs not known to any other county, let alone country.

As Jack Ryan's CIA analyst said in Clear and Present Danger " “I'm going to have to write a special program here".

That steady diet of EastEnders is turning her into a shrew

Bad consequences of Eastenders:

Acting now means shouting.

Stiff upper lips have become loose and floppy.

Couples in real life now have loud, shouty arguments in the street instead of the bedroom or car.

Every soap is now about shouty relationships.

Emerdale is no longer about sick animals.

Casualties is no longer about who will end up with the worst injury and die. Horribly.

Whenever I glare aggressively and meaningfully at an oik on the street, THAT music appears as if by magic.

I've got the 'ump.
