Re: Who says it's a breach

Either that, or a disgruntled member of the IT staff did!!

Of course, some of this data is shared between networks & OFCOM, so who's to say that one of them couldn't be the source of the breach?

It would be quite cool if it weren't for the fact it was 01 811 8055. Tiswas was far more cool, if only for the fact that my Dad used to work on it (he was quite often to be found chucking the water into the cage)

The cloud that goes puff: Seagate Central home NAS woes

GreggS

Having gone through this myself

I feel your pain. I was quite lucky in the fact that I could read the contents of the drive from my now broken Buffalo linkstation and was able to copy them to a new device. Now I use a Synology NAS in RAID 6 configuration (4 disks) which is backed up to a USB attached drive (just to copy my photos and music). I also have a second Synology NAS I am able to use as well another Buffalo Linkstation. Not that i'm paranoid or anything, but they WILL fail!

Boxing clever? Amazon Fire TV is SO CLOSE to being excellent

GreggS

Obsolete?

Samsung TV's have the Amazon Prime app, the Plex media player, BBC iPlayer plus all the other catch-ups and I'm sure their competitors do too. OK, not everyone has a fancy "smart" TV but even so, it must be a gamble in this day an age with margins so tight to be releasing a piece of hardware like this, especially one tied down to a particular service.

GreggS

Re: Plex?

I use it and it's perfectly fine. Not quite up to the finesse of the Samsung TV app but better than the Roku one.

Premier League wants to PURGE ALL FOOTIE GIFs from social media

GreggS

Re: copyright is for creative works

Isn't that what ultimately did for the non-UK based satellite services offering Premier League games cheaply to pubs? The broadcasting and receiving of them was OK, but as soon as the Premier League logo appears, it became breach of copyright and therefore illegal to show. I would of thought the same thing applies here, incl. Sky logos and any other advertising, team logo's and presumably any breach of image rights the players may have.

Sorry state of affairs though and just one more reason to hate Murdoch and the Premier league. best league in the World my arse.

Re: If only i could get a Three signal at home!

Yeah they tried all of that, even changing the signal somehow on the nearest base station (Hey,I'm just quoting their "technical support" don't down vote the messenger), still didn't work and would have only fixed at home anyway, no good as soon as we stepped out the door.

I quite like the idea of a Femocell, are they like a bunch of women that come round your house to make up for the loss of signal?

GreggS

If only i could get a Three signal at home!

Both myself and my wife have had to leave Three as neither of us can get a signal at home or my wife at work. Do GiffGaff allow tethering? EE & Three do on all their packages.
