I like the idea of more of a focus on STEM and yet do not regard silicon valley as it currently exists as something worth bringing over here.
Likewise, I dislike the policies of the Green party but agree that blockchain wont solve hunger problems. Putting robots in 1000 KM square fields to autonomously harvest food *might*.
At the end of the day, I want a job, I want a salary and I dont mind hauling my surplus labour to my employers work place each day. Apparently this makes me an evil capitalist. I'll cry my self to sleep in my warm bed over the fact some dirty unwashed AGEING hippies hate me for being born white.

Thunderbird user for a while now. I use the features present, from multiple profiles to even the chat function and twitter integration from time to time.
Whilst stable, it could use some more love. And the idea of the Document Foundation buffing it up to compete against outlook (one day) strikes me as a good long term goal.
The SJWs strike again.
The flat earth tyrants have taken over the globe, it is around about that time again.
I am waiting for the call for a code of conduct for the IETF, the next way these try hards uses to ensure they can kick out anyone that doesnt follow the groupthink.
Note that these measures are always done for the benefit of some voiceless collection of oppressed people.
I take away from this the message that the proponents of this RFC value Identity politics and feelings over producing something that works.
Came here to post a quick anti-feminist rant using just that angle of how sex-fem-bots reduces female power over men.
Found not only did you beat me to the punch you did so with none of the bile oozing out of my mouth hole.
I shall take notes and learn from this. Thank you.
as an easy way to root a samsung android device. that would be more likely to make samsung patch it - 'people being insecure? who cares' vs 'people being able to strip our valued partners value add bundled apps? - HALT EVERYTHING UNTIL THIS IS FIXED!'.
Pity this is a race between malicious users and the owner to use this exploit, either for good or for evil.
the other event that may have not been noticed or cared for by el Reg is the great consumer revolt by the gamers. Censorship was needed to silence their voices, else paetron profits were at risk by the friends of those that work at twitter. I perceive the clamp down on porn as being part of the larger "community (read: communist) guidelines" brought in a while back. certainly these events work in twitters short term gain.
ethical disclosure : i am one of the gamers, gated in my demand for ethics. (it's not an identity).
Oh FML. Aussie sysadmin here.
I can hear the support calls generated as clients try to email each other monster sized excel spreadsheets and then wonder why their web browsing speeds crawl to a halt as one workstation saturates the upstream of the bog standard Australian Liberal Govt approved ADSL link.
I consider my self a light drinker, that is, i start drinking when i see light... after this i may become a nocturnal drinker...
So the iiBorg finally got bought out by someone else. Not that i have ill will towards iiNet (ex staff member here).
So that leaves three ISPs in australia now - Telstra, Optus and Total Poxface Group (trademark pending). There are others but they are tiny by size. All three care more about profit that customer service. Also TPG's record on copyright notices does not bode well as it is a fight that iiNet damn near shouldered alone in the public eye ( not many people know the first ISP to offer support to iiNet was Telstra - i know this as i worked at iinet when that famous case when to court).
We can only hope some NBN only ISP can fill the now niche void of decent service with decent customer service in the coming future, grim and dark as it now appears to be.
why not register togivehead.com/net/org/watever and use wildcard CNAMEs to tack on the itaught$CELEBTRITY part and go nuts from there?
the registration would not have any copyrighted name/identity present and you can argue to some limited extent that a wildcard CNAME isnt a permanent record as such.
I can easily believe i am one of the few to own an RT device.
I bought it to see how bad it would be. most of the reports are true.
It can be slow but my usage is squarely IE web browsing, the Metro RDP client, SSH & IRC.
So my asus vivo tab works more as a remote terminal than a stand alone device.
Funny how we have almost looped back to the mainframe days where there are looming great machines *out there* and everyone connects back with their own terminal deck.
