Ten Essential... iPhone Games

Invented a whole genre, and was the top selling game for ages for a good reason. Still near the top of the hitlist now. Pure casual gaming crack.

Muso turfed off train for 'suspicious' set list

Guide to rights

Is there some handy portable guide that can help an ordinary citizen deal with such inflated day-glo jackets when engaging in potentially subversive activities like, say, taking a train, walking down the street, using a camera, googling a topic, breathing, eating ...

Bezos begs forgiveness for Amazon's Big Brother moment

Too good to be true

I just don't believe Amazon would make a mistake of this type so early in the Kindle cycle. With '1984', fer goodness' sake. They're just getting one over the publishers: yes it is technically possible to yank a book post-sale, and no we won't ever do it for you, and this is why

"Mono-linguists need not apply"

Cheney et al in court

I used to think that prosecuting the Cheney administration for violation of the US constitution, international human rights law and the Geneva convention was rather too partisan and just too far out.

Not so sure anymore. It is becoming pretty clear that they feel entirely justified to pursue their ends with any means available. The ends are a matter of conventional political debate, but the Bush administation should definitely face justice over the means. Preferably before all evidence is destroyed (up to an including another Cheney heart attack)

Preterite peter-out: How the end beginned

Pity the poor foreigner

I'm still smarting from the unmitigated ridicule I got from the natives when I (correctly!) used the phrase "molten lava" 10 years ago.

I'm sorry, but "melted lava" still sounds wrong to my continental ears.
