The only problem with that statement is the fact that when one election cycle is over here in The Colonies...these twits IMMEDIATELY start campaigning for the next election. No matter how many months...or years...away it is. It has gotten completely out of hand.
Fortunately...with a remote control for the television...and its mute button...I can shut them up, and switch to something far more interesting, very quickly.
My...my...my...haven't we gotten our knickers in a bunch.
"Religion"...that wonderful institution where people pay homage to a made-up entity who "lives" somewhere up in the sky. No one has actually ever seen this "god" or "allah" or whatever, but not a problem...because their ancestors have been doing this for millennia...so there just has to be something to it. Right? OK...whatever............................
Your every wish is my command.
However, according to performance test results from respected independent software labs, Defender still can't match the best antivirus for Windows 8 products: Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Norton AntiVirus.

...then one won't really care...now will one.
And being that it is mostly crap in the first place...
"In our latest review of antivirus test results last month, MSE was the only one of 24 products tested not to achieve AV-Test certification – it was bottom of the pile for Protection with a score just half that of the next worst product (a quarter of the score of the top product) and it was also poor for Repair ability."
...why on earth would you use them in an Enterprise environment? Because they are FREE? Good move.

"Microsoft was largely unaffected by the Heart Bleed Bug. Microsoft Account and Microsoft Azure, along with most Microsoft Services and Windows’ implementation of SSL/TLS were not impacted.
"The company said those who run Linux images in Azure Virtual Machines, or software which uses OpenSSL, could be vulnerable, however. The company is advising such customers to follow guidance from their software distribution provider. Corrective action guidance from U.S. Cert can be found here.

"...Yes, it will keep all your apps and settings,..."
Ah...sorry...but you CAN NOT do an "in-place upgrade to Windows 7" from XP.
One CAN upgrade from XP to Vista and THEN to Win 7...but not from XP to 7. It must be a "clean install".
When you buy Windows 7 Professional you can only do an in place upgrade from Windows Vista Business.
You can do a custom install from XP Pro to Windows 7 Professional.
Installing - What does "in place upgrade" mean?
Upgrade means you can install Windows 7 by simply inserting the Windows 7 upgrade software into your PC's DVD drive and follow the instructions on your screen. While you're not required to backup and reinstall your files, or reinstall your programs, it's a very good idea to back up your files and settings before you start any software upgrade. Get more information about software upgrades and best practices .
Installing - What does "Custom (Clean)" Mean?
A custom (clean) installation erases the contents of your PC's hard drive. Your files, settings, and programs will not be transferred to Windows 7. That means that to install Windows 7, you'll need to:
•Backup all the files and settings you want to keep
•Install Windows 7
•Reinstall all your files
•Reinstall all the programs you want to use.
These four steps take time, some technical skill and Windows Easy Transfer can help.

"BlackBerry scrambles to counter Reuters story; says it won't sell handset business"
NEW YORK — Somewhere along the lines, BlackBerry chief executive John Chen's words got minced. At least, so he claims.
In an interview with Reuters on Wednesday, Chen allegedly said: "If I cannot make money on handsets, I will not be in the handset business."
It's hard to take that out of context, but that's what Chen said in a blog post following the report's publication, saying: "I have no intention of selling off or abandoning this business any time soon."

"instead of misrepresenting the fact to fan the flames of hysteria."
Aw...come on now Tom...what is wrong with a little hysteria once in a while? Isn't it that which keeps the Blog-o-sphere in business?
You sure are one party pooper.
"It was probably one of the major selling points of IBM computers (the other one, with just as much traction, is the ability to do a fork-lift upgrade in a weekend and know it will work.) that they didn't blow a gasket if you looked at them wrong."
Maybe...maybe not.
When I was in school for Business Applications Programming way back when...I was entering code on an S/370 for a large application I had written...and managed to lock it up so badly...the school had to send everyone home for the day, so the techs could figure to just what the heck I had done wrong.
Took the operators a good part of the evening to sort it.
First time anyone had ever managed to hose one they told me. Felt quite proud, actually. :-)
"I've not touched an IBM mainframe for nearly twenty years, and it worries me that I have this information still in my head. I need to lie down!"
"Business Application Programming"..."Basic Assembly Language"..."COBOL"...hand written Flowcharts...seems as though I have those same demons in my head.
"The environmental benefits aren't entirely clear either."
Oh how right you are. People who use "organic" pesticides may still be harming the environment.
There is great uncertainty on this whole issue, and no 100% correct answer.

ORGANIC PESTICIDES VERSUS SYNTHETIC PESTICIDES
"Clearly, the less we impact our environment, the better off we all are. Organic farming practices have greatly advanced the use of non-chemical means to control pests, as mentioned earlier.
Unfortunately, these non-chemical methods do not always provide enough protection, and it's necessary to use chemical pesticides. How do organic pesticides compare with conventional pesticides?
A recent study compared the effectiveness of a rotenone-pyrethrin mixture versus a synthetic pesticide, imidan. Rotenone and pyrethrin are two common organic pesticides; imidan is considered a "soft" synthetic pesticide (i.e., designed to have a brief lifetime after application, and other traits that minimize unwanted effects). It was found that up to 7 applications of the rotenone- pyrethrin mixture were required to obtain the level of protection provided by 2 applications of imidan.
It seems unlikely that 7 applications of rotenone and pyrethrin are really better for the environment than 2 applications of imidan, especially when rotenone is extremely toxic to fish and other aquatic life.
It should be noted, however, that we don't know for certain which system is more harmful. This is because we do not look at organic pesticides the same way that we look at conventional pesticides. We don't know how long these organic pesticides persist in the environment, or the full extent of their effects.
When you look at lists of pesticides allowed in organic agriculture, you find warnings such as, "Use with caution. The toxicological effects of [organic pesticide X] are largely unknown," or "Its persistence in the soil is unknown." Again, researchers haven't bothered to study the effects of organic pesticides because it is assumed that "natural" chemicals are automatically safe."
For a person so sure HE knew what was best for OTHER people...he certainly had no clue about his own self.
Another poster-child for alternative medicine...or maybe not.

...if one is such a narcissistic twat, that they feel they have a need to tell the world where they are, and what they are doing, at any given second, then who really cares what happens to them? Not moi.
If you are stupid enough to use these asinine social networking programs...then simply deal with their consequences...and stop whining when you are assaulted, or your home is burglarized.
...how about working on INDOOR PLUMBING first...and at least bring the country into the early part of the 20th century. Hmmm?
"The world's second-most populous nation after China, India has the world's largest number of people going outdoors. Nearly 640 million Indians, or 54 percent of the 1.1 billion population lack access to toilets or other sanitation facilities. In some states, the problem was so bad that village women started a slogan: "No toilet, no bride."

It was reported today that Microsoft has discovered that PEOPLE are the users of Information Technology (IT), and that after this earth shattering discovery, they will now be changing their business model to concentrate on this new found resource.
Check back here often for more on this major story.
Ahhh...@JDX...Hitler "changed the world". So did Stalin, Mao, and a whole host of other scumbags in the history of this planet...just NOT for the better. And neither has this twenty-something little snot.
And no...he is not an "important person". He is an annoying arsehole...and THE prime example of the fact that money does not buy class.
I have been crucified by Commentards on other IT related sites, for saying people can lose their money with BC...told it was "impossible"...and for stating that its "value" is subject to the whims of speculators. Told its "value was constant". Right.
Been called a liar and worse by these idiots. Now who is laughing? Not those folks that had money in Mt. Gox who were ridiculing me.
"VAIOs have never been much good. They're very pretty, which on its own makes them expensive. But performance is underwhelming, and they're unreliable."
Let me tell you all a funny story about SONY computers.
A very dear friend who is no longer living, was a personal assistant to Sir Howard Stringer from many years. Started off with him when he was at the CBS television network in New York. She move around with him over the years as he changed positions, and companies.
One day, not long after Sir Howard had become Chairman & CEO of SONY, she called me to ask for my advice on buying a laptop computer for herself and her boyfriend. Of course my first question to her was "why not a SONY?"
Her reply was "no one who works for SONY would own actually one of their computers. Too unreliable, and the support is non-existent." I laughed my a$$ off!
I recommended, and she purchased, two IBM (pre-Lenovo) ThinkPads.
