It really is less of a faff than Windows. Everything, including stuff that no longer works in Windows, worked for me. As our 'Merkin cousins would say "It's a no-brainer".

Yes, but some IP addresses are in absolute form (dot quad form) so you can't block them at the hosts file, you have to use a firewall of some kind. The Addresses CURRENTLY in use are well known, just Google them, but don't be caught out when they change.
