Gramovox - massive fail !!!

I was an audiophile before the term was invented. I managed a hi-fi shop in the 1960's and I'll admit to subjecting too many customers to loud demonstrations with James Last and Bert Kaempfert as the source material. Unfortunately, many years of abuse to my ears followed as my career progressed in that industry. So as I move toward my 70's I know that I cannot pass judgement on the subtleties of sound quality, but I do know how to look after my vinyl.

The first rule of vinyl has always been NEVER EVER touch the surface of the disc. Watch the techie in the Gramovox promo video finger both sides of the disc with both hands simultaneously and then use his thumb to push the disc onto the turntable!!!!!!

I nearly wept.

I love my HP2133 and bought a new battery for it recently to show the love. It's too well made to consider throwing it away but even LXLE runs like frozen treacle. I'm probably mis-remembering but I think even XP was faster. Is there any known Linux flavour that really works on this baby?

Give it a few days and we'll be back to normal. The PiZero will be in the drawer under the telly and we'll hope our spouse doesn't ask about it again.

In the beginning was the wander plug

All these shiny new plugs are freaking me out. We only use tag strips, wander plugs or banana plugs here. Somebody told me we should get rid of all our 5A and 15A mains plugs, but we'll wait until the last one makes that funny burning fish smell.

BTW there was a rumour that mains voltage might be raised from the current 200 volts to 240. Can anyone confirm when this might happen?

In optical diagrams (and in the real world) light travels from the source to the eye, not the other way round.

Check out the diagrams in Fig.1 on the first page. The arrows are pointing the wrong way.

It might be too simple

but why not have solar PV elements interspersed with solar thermal elements to cool them? That would extract every last drop of energy and the cat would be safe.

Oh bugger that's yet another brilliant idea I've given away.
