Job alert: Is this the toughest sysadmin role on Earth? And are you badass enough to do it?

Antarctic Stargate of course. The job application should have also said 'possession of ATA gene a distinct advantage'

I've had three TP-Link adaptors fail over the last year, all because of blown capacitors (this seems to be a common fault with these). I managed to fix one, but the passthrough versions were too fiddly. Now relocated the router to a central position and gone back to wireless.

Just drinking my first cup of the day from my Aeropress when I read this - as you say, it is simple and pretty easy to clean.

We've got a Tassimo at home, but it only fills a standard cup 2/3 of the way. I need a full mug to get me going in the office.

The rowing lake idea was proposed several years before the London Olympics, so I doubt it will ever get going.

Knocking down some houses might upset some friends of mine - if they move the route a bit further south it will go through my vegetable patch as well (you'll know where I live if you know the area, based on my username)

I ain't Spartacus - I cycle pretty fast, so I think I wouldn't hold up the Class 153 units :-)

They can't rebuild the Bedford - Cambridge part on the same route now - some of it was built over (and I now use part of it as a cycle track on the way to Sandy).

If they had thought of this back in Beeching's time it might be a bit different.

3D spacial-perception awareness?

Is that a requirement for squeezing yourself into a holdall and doing up the zip? Do they 'assist' you if you can't do it yourself?

"almost always, when men and women are in a car together, the man drives"

Not in my case. My wife is a better driver than me - probably because she's done a number of driving jobs in the past (including a London bus for 3 years). I navigate though.

Re: Biggest thing my cat ever brought in...?

One of mine once dragged a (just about still alive) fully grown male pheasant in through the catflap.

Another one has a fondness for rabbits - eats the whole thing except for the guts (which he tends to leave under my desk). Took him to the vets one time as he had injured his paw. Vet was very impressed when the full body x-ray showed two spinal cords - the cat's plus a bunny one in his stomach!

If I order something online from Amazon, I have a reasonable expectation that they will keep my credit card details, address and other personal information safe - is is their own interest to do this because of loss of business and fines if they didn't.

In comparison, the history of government departments leaving unencrypted discs on the train, emailing info to the wrong people, corrupt staff and simple incompetence does not fill me with confidence about giving them unrestricted access to my medical details.
