_Spec Ops: The Line_ was quite obviously a retelling of _Heart of Darkness_, but I felt the ending was a letdown because I didn't understand the guy at the end was talking to *me the player* and not John Walker(the PC).
I'll have to go back and play it again, but after I finish _Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain_. It's goofy, but it's deadly serious about being goofy.
The US Dollar is worth something because it is backed by the "full faith and credit" of the US government. Believe what you want about the full faith and credit of the US government. Why is Bitcoin worth anything? Because you can (maybe) sell one for some multiple of a US Dollar? How does that make sense?
Chuck-E-Cheese makes you put US Dollars into their changers to play their games, and you'll notice there isn't a CEC credit-to-US Dollar changer at the exit. Why is that? Sure, there are bigger suckers than you right now, but will they be there when you want to get out?
But here I am again, screaming into the void Register comments section, which I said I wouldn't do. Dammit.
Why are you asking us?
Shirley, you know it won't, just as it won't on MickOS[0]. And what makes you think IE mode would prevent MS from sucking down every last drop of the contents, once they've gone balls-deep on your computer? It's the entire shaft that's the problem. "IE Mode" would be grafting an additional set of seminal vesicles to the base of the browser that were aimed specifically at MS and not Google. So a delivery system that, while you enjoy it as well, does nothing but gratify MS.
This is why I decided to get off (ha!) the internet: so I don't feel the need to write things like this.
[0]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs_by_ethnicity "List of ethnic slurs by ethnicity" I think I approve, wikipedia, but I'm not sure why
Simply because of how it works. What you really want is a magazine, or a TV network, or some other technology where the suckers consuming what you're producing have no choice in the matter. It might be my *fault* that my ad-blocking results in you not making any money, but it's certainly not my *problem*.
"why do people put up with billion dollar multi-national corporations telling them when, and how, they are allowed to play the music they have bought a license to listen to?"
I can't tell if you're joking, but that's literally what a license is -- an agreement that stipulates exactly how you can use the item being licensed.
Iran could reduce Israel to rubble with conventional weapons if they wanted to. What Trump tore up was the pretense that they wouldn't develop a nuke for the next decade. Now we don't even have that.
We weren't *giving* Iran nuke tech, we were *delaying them* from deploying it.
Democracy is literally dictatorship of the majority. Here in the democratic republic of the USA, we have seen -- twice!, in the last 20 years -- the majority of ballots cast for the candidate that loses. Just because the American system worked against you (and me!) doesn't mean it doesn't work.
I bought a OnePlus One last year after killing my Samsung Note 2 (that I also bought last year-- I shouldn't be allowed to have a phone not in a case because I kill them) and, after installing LineageOS, I don't see a need for a newer phone. I want Firefox, and a TOTP client, and my bank's check deposit app, and I'm good. Unfortunately, that last condition means I'm stuck on Android.
"There should be no more than 10 slides for a half-hour presentation, and the message must be limited to six points per slides and one to two lines for each point, it added."
Right, so PowerPoint is good, I can have however many slides I like, and I can put twelve lines of text on a slide. That sounds like an excellent way to get my point across. /s
