OK...
I can handle them knocking off the prick, but to out his pron stash...
That's just wrong!

Sony will take away a lesson from this?
More likely, they will throw their toys out the pram again, which IMO is what led to this to begin with. If they had secured their servers/information correctly to begin with and not "Poked the hornet nest" they may not have this problem!
Way to fail Sony!
trying to get that to fly in court (Especially in the US)...
For a conspiracy to exist, some action needs to be taken. And then anyone who was talking about it could be considered conspirators (Can be very hard to prove just by an offhand conversation).
By your logic the US government could pretty much arrest anyone who has commented on the Faux News website.
Conspiracy can be very hard to prove...
is a few idiots who didn't protect themselves will get questioned by the police. The others are all behind proxies and will lead to a dead end.
Also, just talking in an IRC chat is not illegal, something has to connect those people to something illegal. Just visiting an Anon IRC chat or forum is not going to get you in trouble unless you do something illegal!
"Consultancy" outfit bites the dust...
"And nothing of value was lost!"
Washington is full of these kind of firms who's only job is to suck up taxpayer monies!
I do feel bad for the ordinary 9 to 5 guys and girls who worked there and had nothing to do with this but they only have there bosses to blame!
Lol at attempted damage control!
(While it is still going I do not reckon it will survive this!)
Good on the NYT, so when they going to let the rest of us see it? Just someone saying they saw something is not proof. I'm not saying he did or didn't edit it. I'm saying I haven't seen any proof that he did!
What "Fact" that he edited it? All we have is what some hack at the NYT says he saw. If it's true let them show it, not like it is going to hurt anyone except Assange if what the NYT is saying is true!
The Insurgents/Taliban do not ignore RoE, they don't have any RoE. There is a difference!
So, back to the question, How many lives have been lost due to the leaks?
What charges (in relation to the leaks) have been made?
The Grand Jury in Virginia hasn't said anything about what they have found. That doesn't mean they have found anything and are being hush. It doesn't mean they haven't found anything either.
The only information that we have gotten (and that is "off the record") is that they are having a hard time finding any connection proving that he influenced Manning (Allegedly) to give them the documents.
Personally, I think they are fishing, but who knows? I may be wrong and they find some email or something, but as of right now they don't seem to have squat!
You would have noticed...
"Assange on the other hand may not have a charge to defend, as far as I'm aware there are not even charges against him in respect of the leaks!"
Do you see those words "in respect of the leaks" on the end there?
I have never defended Assange. I do not think he is the real important thing to take away from any of this.
Until we see the (uncut) footage it's all really academic. Never put much importance in that anyway, war is war.
Just out of curiosity, how many people have been killed due to these leaks?
TBH, war is war, if you get involved you endanger yourself. If you're really worried about our troops being in danger maybe you should look more at the people who got them there to begin with!
(It's fairly bad form to try to insult people who are just asking questions and it puts people off of considering the merits of your arguments.)
Assange and Wikileaks are one in the same. Openleaks? Seems ok to me if they actually are trying to assist whistle blowers.
Are they?
Clearly Wikileaks isn't and hasn't a good track record other than making Assange rich off of its dupe supporters.
Really?
Ankle bracelet and tromping around the English countryside.... vs prison cells for those who supplied Wikileaks info.
One is on bail Accused of something, the other is in jail Accused of something. Now I don't think the second should be in jail but he is a part of the military and did "sign his life away". They really do need to get down to a trial with him because it is becoming cruel without a conviction!
Assange on the other hand may not have a charge to defend, as far as I'm aware there are not even charges against him in respect of the leaks!
this guy seemed to be trying to use the Legion to further his own career and that of the company he works/worked for...
Well looks like that's not going to work out to well for him!
You would have though a security consultant would be a bit more savvy.
I think "Pwned" would be the operative word!
if no one had kicked up a fuss, all this would go away and nobody would remember it.
So what do these people do, lawsuit, make a big deal in the press. Now nobody can forget it, and what's worse...
I thought it was quite funny and didn't take it in any serious context.
Why are butthurt people there own worst enemies?
Paris, cause I bet she loves a big burrito!
this devalues any effort by law enforcement to combat actual crime!
When they go down this route it points out the hypocracy and curruption within our government and law enforcement (Or at least gives people an argument suggesting it).
If you break the law, you break the law. It shouldn't matter what side you were doing it for!
by the river with my fishing rod, bait and a six pack...
Sure I'll catch something! Has to be something! Please, let there be something!
Who keeps confidential documents on private PC's with P2P software on them? Oh, Yeah, obviously the US government!
Paris: Because I bet she likes fishing!
the way things are with my finances right now, it would be really boring! I still can't see what the big deal would be unless you are either doing something wrong or it allowed people to get access to your money...
Saying all that, I do understand the whole privacy thing. I honestly understand you point of view. I'm not just being awkward to be awkward!
But I would expect the bank to take responsibility for the leak as they are responsible for the data protection. Whomever stole it should be done for breaking the law and I do believe this Swiss chap is already in legal trouble for it!
Where it does get hazy is when you include things like Wikileaks, as long as they did not conspire to steal the data it's pretty much fair game. That's how whistleblowing works!
In the end, the data should have been protected better!
(Sorry if this is a bit everywhere in a bit of a rush!)
