Yo, Imma let you finish, but for the 6,000 people still using that app on a daily basis ... we have a question: why?

Hoi Polloi means the common people, not the millionaires

It sucks so much they released a console version that didn't get updated while the PC one was/is still in early access.

"On September 13, they will also fail to deal with timestamps that are based on Unix time."

How? I really don't understand how they can be having that issue before 2038? Do they use 31bit numbers instead of 32bit or wtf is going?

Re: I already fear upgrading my motherboard firmware

Not sure how prevalent it is but my motherboard has "dual BIOS" . When you update, it only installs over one of the BIOS, keeping the other untouched as a backup. If the installation fails/results in a corrupted installation, it falls back to the second BIOS so you can still successfully boot and try again.

Microsoft wants serious, non-gaming developers to make more money

Re: has anybody else actually bought any 3rd party app from them?

I didn't buy from the windows store on pc, rather through my xbox one. Got State of Decay 2 as I would any other game, but it is cross platform. The one purchase lets me install it on Xbox One and on PC (Windows 10 only, apparently). I'm not sure if the revenue share is different when purchased via xbox or pc but if there are other games that are cross platform that I want to get then I might just purchase them through the store. Never had a need for anything else on it though.

"more than 21 app stores"

I've never used an iPhone but as far as I know they only have the one official app store right? And for Android there is the Google Play store. That's 2 stores. What are the other 19 stores?; I assume they are more than likely shady sources of APKs of questionable legitimacy.

Microsoft steps up Windows 10 nagging

I can't even upgrade to 8.1

I would be more than keen to accept the upgrade to Win 10 except for the fact that whenever I tried the 8.1 upgrade (currently still on 8) it would fail hard and I'd end up having to completely reinstall 8. If I can't upgrade from 8 to 8.1 I don't know how well I'd fare going from 8 to 10.

I don't see the plan you say are on (500gb on/off), only the 1000gb anytime, which is $58 month, not $89 as you say. I am currently on the Unlimited data allowance which is only $59.

ACCC slaps iiNet over prices in ads

I quite like iiNet and was worried this article was about them doing some dodgy advertising but...

"The ads correctly showed the $69.95 monthly price of the plan, along with the total price, but the ACCC says not enough prominence was given to the total cost."

So they were honest about the costs and they're being fined because some people are too dumb to do simple math? CostPerMonth*NumberOfMonthsInContract . It's two fucking numbers, multiplied.

For pity's sake, you fool! DON'T UPGRADE it will make it worse

Re: Update failed reverting changes

This is why I haven't (can't) upgrade to 8.1

No idea wtf the problem is, I bought the PC with Win8 already installed, but the upgrade to 8.1 fails bad.

Mozilla updates to Firefox 8, disables add-ons

title eh

Posting hre because I'm too lazyto sign up for engadget comments, but this is a much better report than what i read there. When i first read it all it mentioned was twitter support, and 'a new way to manage addons' - not the fact that it blocks third party add-ons, etc.

And the Twitter support is only via the search box, which I have disabled/hidden anyway. At first I thought it was going to be some big ugly Twitter logo somewhere, but no, it's in a feature I never use, plus the actual decent updates, I am going t oupdate right now. Fuck all ya'll haters that don't look into iot further and just post comments along the lines of 'twitter in my firefox? ghey'

...as long as you use an old version.

I'm quite happy to keep updating as long as 'oldbar' extension keeps working. I have never seen or used the so-called 'awesome' bar for more than a few minutes as oldbar is one of the first I install when setting up a new pc.
