CD: The indestructible music format that REFUSES TO DIE

SYNTAX__ERROR

Re: I see in a store a CD with music

I use Grooveshark or Tinyshark for Android. When friends/colleagues mention music I might like, I search for it on my phone. I find it and add it to a playlist.

I can then play it in my ear, my car and when I get home.

Try it out - it's pretty cool.

I do of course still maintain a comprehensive digital library of my own.

An electricity meter can only be fitted by an authorised agent of the electricity distribution authority. In the UK it is illegal to tamper with one. And you can't turn them off.

Certs irrelevant.

If your only access to net is through a proxy, the proxy will be able to snoop on all of your traffic. Even if it is over SSL.

If a transparent proxy is in use, one might not be aware of it or be able to determine so.

Usually smaller, less powerful cars cost less than big fast ones. They also tend to be more fuel-efficient...

Although I'll admit, the traditional mindset in the US has been to buy vehicles with massive petrol engines and so there's probably a lot of second-hand ones about.

Two that come to mind

National Treasure (well the franchise really) - Suitably showcasing Nicolas Cage's complete lack of talent alongside suspension of disbelief-busting plot lines.

Piranha 3D - seriously, I can't even believe this made it to Blu-Ray. Usually I manage to finish even the blandest movies.

Re: Sheer stupidity not absent technology

Yeah, there's this thing called a domain as well in the Windows world, there is similar functionality available for *nix systems, which involves using some kind of directory service as a central location for user accounts and passwords.

This normally means you don't have to update passwords on every box. That kind of thing would get very tiring on a network with thousands of users and machines.

%Program Files% is simply a variable that contains the path to your Program Files folder. It does not matter on which partition you have configured that folder to reside. The folder will have the same permissions regardless of where it is located.

Even if you chose to install programs in a custom folder there is no reason why it could not be given the same ACL.

@ James Hughes

James, we have been expecting this product for a while now. Several deadlines have been missed and information has been sketchy.

When some are actually available for sale those who have parted with their cash have been told they MIGHT expect delivery in what, oh, about SIX WEEKS?

Then we learn via Twitter that they have not arrived from Asia yet and they still need to clear customs. To me this way of dealing with customers stinks of dishonesty.

When we see some pictures of a customer in the UK holding one of these mythical devices, that's when a sensible person will part with their money. Can't show me that picture? Then it is vapourware for now.
